The only reasons I can figure on why you are seeing alot of hair.
1. Your Yorkie is not a purebred, Yorkies in general don't shed because they only have a single coat.
2. There may be underlying issues that is causing your yorkies hair to fall out. A trip to the vet may be in order.
3. some yorkies have a finer delicate coat that breaks easily. This may be what you are seeing.
4. depending on if your Yorkie is a puppy it may just be the puppy hair that is coming out as it is replaced by adult hair.

Excellent point! I was just about to suggest a thyroid issue. I have thyroids disease and when I am off my meds my hair gets super brittle and breaks a lot.

My Maggie sheds. When she gets a bath, there is a lot of hair left in the tub. I noticed just this morning there is a lot of hair on the blanket she has been sleeping on. When I kiss her, I usually get hair in my mouth...she's been shedding for a long time.

Maggie was sold to me as a purebred Yorkie, so, I go with she's a purebred. She's been tested for thyroid issues (just a few months back). She's four years old, so no puppy hair. She does have fine, silky hair. She has a lot of hair but it's fine, easy to brush/comb. Here's a picture of what was on the blanket she slept on last night.

This is exactly what my Moka's sleeping spot looks like. I'd also like to point out that there is a difference between breakage and shedding. I do agree, Yorkies should not be shedding which is the release of one layer of hair to regrow it. However, some do have brittle hair and it breaks easily.
