| The only "black" hawk in the U.S. is the Zone-tailed Hawk, which is a dark tropical hawk found in Mexico into the Sonoran desert of southern AZ.

| Yes, I think a little furry dog running out in a yard could look very much like a "bunny" to a hawk or owl. I know my son's dog thinks Gracie is something to chase and play with when he sees her outside so I would think a prey bird would get the same idea. You just can't be too careful with little dogs in so many different situations. |
