I was a city girl.I hate mice and rats. (rats the size of cats) well we get mice in the house and my DBF is in charge of disposing of the bodies. I can't look at them. I feel so bad that they are dead lol |

Awwww that is great you took the poor cat in. So many people dump them off around here. It is so sad. Every cat I have ever owned has been dumped off on me. The last one I took in is still alive and she is about 18 years old. :) |

I am horrible about this kind of thing. In fact, I stop for turtles crossing the road and put earthworms back in the grass. I hit a squirrel one time and cried for the rest of the day. It's funny that I could work in a hospital just fine but can't handle injured animals. Breaks my heart.... Louise |
Not that a possum is a c/c. They are just critters to me. I'm scared of them that they might bite or something if not tamed but they don't gross me out like - you know. Anyway, I'll bet he's gone on to his possum-y reward and won't have to be cold this winter or anything. |

I guess I am in the weird category...I will try my best to catch a fly in the house and put it outside. Once I was driving I saw a large grasshopper by my wiper blade...I stopped and let it off. When I was 17 and driving at night I could have sworn I hit a dog or something on a highway. I came home crying so hard my parents thought I hit a person. They went back to where I said it happened and said there was a box in the road. To this day I think they just "told" me that to make me feel better. This time of year when animals are getting ready for the winter there are alot more of them killed trying to get across the roads. I try my best to keep an eye out for any especially at night. |
I have a sister she hates to kill anything including bugs and like me she hates cockroaches she won't kill them. Me on the other hand I usually won't kill spiders unless its poison one then its dead, they eat other bugs but cockroaches omgosh I will kill it! |
I think it should be normal to have compassion for any suffering animals or human. Sadly there are some people who will go out of their way to hit any animal in the road. The opossum probably had a home nearby that it could have gone back to and either died there or recovered. I think it would be very hard to find it. It amazes me, living in a densely wooded area, that there is so much life out there that we don't see during the day. But if I turn on my back light on at night there are any number of critters that I might see. I don't know where they go during the day and I don't go looking for them either!:) |

I went looking today myself to see if I could find a body. But I did not find one. I looked all around the area it was hit. Nothing. I know he couldn't have got far with a back side injury. But I guess they are tougher than I think. He might have went into the woods next door. It is very close. I am too chicken to go through there. I really don't want to see any other unwelcome guests. |
