| Anybody know breeder Kathleen Bassett from Tucson Az? Hi everyone!! I'm still looking for a yorkie, and I found that in Tucson, Az, where I live, there is a breeder named Kathleen Bassett. I just wrote her and she does not have puppies now. But she's waiting for a litter, she said puppies will arrive in about 3-4 months. She only has a yorkie couple, which she breeds. Does anybody know her or have reference about her? I appreciate your answers ! |

| Tiny Terriers of Yorkshire? She has a single breeding pair a 5.3 pound female and 2.5 pound male she says both are champion AKC lines? Ask to see the pedigrees. Will you be visiting her house?

| Yeees that's it!! Actually I just wrote her back requesting a visit to see the parents. She hasn't responded yet. Should I be careful because she identifies herself as a tiny yorkie breeder? I've read before that when a breeder states breeding "tiny" yorkies, could be a red flag towards not so healthy puppies. Thanks everyone, hope to read more about what you think!! |

| It's standard knowledge any dog under 5ponds shouldn't be bred. Many breeders dismiss this saying they only breed small males. They also say it makes small puppies. Both of those excuses are unacceptable IMHO. They'll get random sized puppies and really a tiny is at a higher risk for many health issues. Does sge even health test her breeding pair?

| Sense she only has one female and male is she breeding the female every heat because that is a big no no. I would also make sure she has done genetic testing on her breeders.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | How did you hear of her, btw? Does she advertise...if so, are you comfortable w/ where/how she advertises? You could check out ytca.org for AZ breeders - bc there are some here in AZ.

| She doesn't sound like a breeder that I'd want to support...

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | No, the dad could be the runt of his litter and all the rest were huge, the dad could also have health problems that made him small, or even poor nutrition before birth. That's why it so important to find a breeder who studies lines, size is only one factor in producing a yorkie, so many other things are important that you won't find many good breeders breeding 3 pound males.

| Thank you all for your responses! You've been very helpful. I've written down everything I should ask the breeder before thinking about purchasing a yorkie puppy from her. Thanks again! |
