Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Bees I have reading about a lot of stings to yorkies. I do want to put out a little information. *A lot of people lump all the stingers together. *Bumble bees, honey bees, wasps, hornets, yellow jackets. But they are very different. *Hornets and wasps are nasty. *Individual hornets can sting multiple times, unlike bees, *hornets and wasps do not die after stinging because their stingers are not barbed and are not pulled out of their bodies. Hornet stingers are longer. They can even get through a bee suit. *Yellow jackets (wasp family) are the ones you see at picnics, fairs and around your soda if you are outside. These are the ones that everyone mistakes them for bees. *Bubble bees and carpenter bees are the big fat ones. Honey bees are really very docile.*My D-BF is a bee keeper. We have four hives on our property. We have vegetable and flower gardens. I have been in the gardens picking veggies and honey bees flying around. They are very focused on what they are doing. Pollen lol We and family and friends with there pets have never been stung from one of our honey bees. With any stingers make sure you get the stinger out. Even if you kill it, it will still be pumping venom into the body. Also a little known fact. Do not eat bananas near a hive. It closely mimics the alarm pheromone in bees. Just a little FYI . . . |

| So, Mandie got stung at least 2 times because they pulled out 2 stingers. And I found one yellow jacket (still alive) caught in the hair of her mustache. Was it likely that one yellow jacket or multiple ones (I mean, since there were 2 stingers and all)? Very good info! Thanks for sharing!

| Thanks for sharing! We've been pretty lucky with bees, but it's good to know about the different types...
