Better yet, if you have a puppy and have stairs.. you should TEACH/ TRAIN your puppy how to use the stairs rather then keep them away- That way when they get older they are aware on how to use them.

Some people I think forget that they don't just know about stairs. Callie still freaks me out sometimes the way she goes so fast I wish she would slow down but she wont like she can't do it slow thank goodness we are moving to a one story house soon no more stairs but to the loft area and I am blocking them off and using a baby gate because the stairs a more then a normal set, slippery wood, and we are putting our guest area up there and I don't think they want Callie going through there suit cases lol.

Well sometimes you have to wait until there little legs are long enough.

My kamikaze doggies are blocked from the stairs because I know that if the doorbell rang, they would tumble down the stairs trying to beat each to the door. Max would probably take the shortcut, jumping from the second floor landing to the foyer. I carry my big boys upstairs and downstairs. They enjoy the ritual, Max riding in "the boat," folded up in his bed, and Teddy with his front paws braced on Max's side.
