My girl keeps getting diarrhea. Any ideas??? My 2 year old female keeps having diarrhea. Last time (a couple of weeks ago) she would shake and tremble like she was cold for a couple minutes, then later she would have diarrhea. My vet had me do hamburger/rice diet. It stopped after a couple of days. She was fine for a couple of weeks, now she has it again. We feed her Newmans organic food. She seems fine otherwise. I cant take her to the vet until Monday. I am worried about her, please help

| i would continue on with the hamburger/rice diet. a similar thing happened to my maxi a little while ago and it stopped. even if a certain food brand has good reputation, it may not be right for you dog. i heard natural choice was good, so i got it for maxi. soon after she was having the runs! that's when i gave her ground beef and rice. i found out later that natural choice puppy food had too much fat and protein in it for my puppy to handle. maybe you can ask your vet to recommend sensitive stomach food. maxi took very well to chicken soup for the soul brand as well as science diet.

diet You can feed the best diet in the world, but like the previous post...it may not work for your pet. A dose of Kao AM/PM and the hamburger/rice diet would be good until you get back to the vet.

When did you baby first start this problem. Has it been on going or off and on? Make sure there is nothing in your yard that she may me getting into and eating. You might have the vet do a bblood panel, check for cocidosis or Giardia. Does it happen shortly after she eats. She may have a protozoal oranism causing problems- sensitive tummy to fod she is eating.

It happened the first time a couple of weeks ago. Lasts a few days then stops after the rice/hamburger diet. It has stopped again. I think I will throw away this bag of food. I will check the yard too. Thanks for the suggestions.

I would suggest cleaning and dissenfecting the entire area and all toys and dog clothes. Do what the vet said again, and see how it goes. Watch what you use to clean and make sure it is pet safe.

They don't know yet, they tested for parasites. That came back neg. For now they want me to throw away the old food, buy a new bag and introduce it very slowly, mixing it with rice/hamburger. If it continues they will run more tests later this week.

The vet has put her on metrenozinol (spelling?) and a prescription food for intestinal sensitivity. They think it could be an allergy, chrohns disease, ibs or possibly just a virus that has her out of wack. All of her blood work came back normal. Today after 24 hours on the metrenoz and ib food she had a normal poop. YEAH!
