OOPS...left this out....In regards to doggie daycare, I don't have any experience with this yet. It is great to hear everyone else's positive experiences, and I would definitely consider one that has a program where the divisions of size are better. Because I would also really like my dogs to get socialization. I just would want and need to know that they were having constant supervision with any dog much larger than them. And I by no means dislike larger dogs!!! The dogs that stayed with us were good dogs.... I just worry about the safety issues with big variances in size playing together.

There are no less than 7 doggy daycares here...the one I listed is the ONLY one I will take my dogs to. The degree of care varies a lot between them they're mot like child cares besides maybe health department certifications and liability insurance anyone can operate one.

I know what you mean about just wanting other puppies for your baby to play with. My daughter has a yorkie-poo who is 1 day older than Puddles and started off similar size, but by the time they were 4 months old, my daughter's puppy weighed in at 5 pounds and Puddles was still struggling to get to 2 pounds. We had to stop the play sessions because it left me way tooooooo stressed out even though they were very supervised.

I just got my first Yorkie ever in my life a couple days ago and I am afraid of everything coming near her. So no, I'd never put her in doggy daycare. when she gets a little older and bigger and has had all her shots I'll take her to a dog park to interact and socialize because I agree with you that socialization is important for dogs to live healthy and happy lives. However, If we went to a dog park I wouldn't let her off the leash and I'd never go near any of the larger dogs.
