| Doggie underwear Has anyone ever used doggy underwear? I recently had Julius neutered and had no luck with the e collar or the inflatable. I put a pair of doggy underwearI on him at least while he sleeps (since I can't keep an eye on him then and stop him if he licks.) it seems to be working but I know he is mad at me...especially because they are purple (unfortunately the only color they had besides pink).

Zachary's Mom Donating Member | I am almost 65 and have had lots of dogs. I have never worried about covering the incision and none of my boys or girls have ever done any damage to it. My vet said licking helps heal. I just keep an eye on the dog and distract him if I see too much licking. Louise |

That's the reason my vet said you prevent licking of an incision....you don't want to introduce germs into a fresh cut. There are many things people have done for years, but when we know better, we do better and more lives are saved.

| I am probably too sensitive right now to write in this thread but yikes please do not allow licking. Enough things can and do go wrong without licking. I would say yes to doggy undies/ diapers only when he is not moving. I only say that because when he is moving it could rub against the incision and irritate it. Plus getting air to it is a good thing. |
