Paris: Always in my ♥ Donating YT Member | craigslist yorkie how to proceed OK crazy dog lady here. How do you proceed if you see a Yorkie you may want on craigslist? Is this a terrible idea? It says 5 month old undocked Yorkie 3lbs $200. What do I ask for? I would really like to think about this dog. I know I have one on hold at the shelter, but I would love to have another Yorkie. Help me think this out. |

| Is this a breeder selling a dog she couldn't place (so you could see the parents) or is this someone looking to rehome?

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I would be very careful! Craigslist is known for scams, and I can't believe a breeder would be selling a tiny for that price. While good breeders do sell or give them away, saying that you can't sell heartache, they never advertise on craigslist. It's also possible that the dog has been diagnosed with something that is very costly to treat. Do they leave a phone number? I'd ask for vet references at the very least, and I'd do a reversed phone check. I would never ever wire money, that a scam for sure. I personally think it’s too emotionally draining to buy a sick dog.

| Yes be very careful of Craigslist. Nancy brought up some good points. Also, I would ask to meet in a public place if you decide to proceed. What about pictures? Did the ad have pictures? Maybe ask to see more? Don't send any money before getting the pup. I am probably the wrong person to be asking this to. I went and grabbed Mikki and didn't worry to much about anything. I did ask the owner if she had any issues I needed to be aware of and asked the vets name. But I didn't call the vet before I took her. Only to find out that she has LP and needed dew claws removed. But I wouldn't trade her for anything. I will tell you what a lot of members told me when I was trying to decide to get her or not. They said to me "follow your heart". Well I did and now Mikki is a huge part of my life. I think if you start asking a lot of questions you will see pretty quickly if they are a scam or not. I hope it works out for you. Keep us posted!

| A 3 lb yorkie puppy for $200??? That sounds awfully fishy to me. I spent a great deal of time searching for a puppy. I'd seen ads for $350 that I knew were scams. I'd not only be concerned about the health of the pup or whether there really is a pup at all, but also whether it is a stolen puppy. It just doesn't seem like a realistic price for what you've described. Good luck. Tracey |

Yorkie Yakker | craigslist yorkie Hi beachdog. Youre correct in worrying-- BUT-- I actually got mine from there. I got an email response to a post for one from a young woman and i of course asked a ton of questions first and got alot of different pics before meeting at a dog park <- her idea, and she explained why she had to get rid of her and never waivered in her story EXCEPPPTTT i told her to bring current vaccine records and of course she" forgot" them. I decided i wasnt going to let her take care of her anymore so i took her home with me. 300.00. 4 months old. The rest is history. Shes perfect. Luckily has no health problems. Just be careful |

| I once got a 6 mo. old, 6 lb., unspayed, Silkie off of Craigslist for $50. I toyed with keeping her, but ended up working with her on potty skills and manners, got her straightened out, then rehomed her through the rescue I volunteer with. I agree, you have to be so careful, but yes, sometimes the ads are legit. Is there a picture in the ad? I can run it through Tin Eye and see if it's a photo that's out there on the net and been used before. Can you post a link to the ad? http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...kie-yikes.html

| There are people who have to rehome their animals that put them on Craigslist. I have noticed that many people that respond to these Yorkie ads never receive a reply. Yorkies are very popular right now. I don't think it will be there long if it is for real. Yes, meet in a public place if you do get in contact with the people. It is a 50/50 thing. I don't see any harm in checking it out with caution. I have seen people that have "rescued" Yorkies from Craigslist. |

Paris: Always in my ♥ Donating YT Member | I was so excited all night long with the thought of getting this dog. I did email for more info and pictures here is the link. Yorkie Puppies Almost 5 Month's Old As a single gal I will proceed very carefully, exchange no money beforehand, take someone with me, ask for the vets name. This would be a dream come true. And I just got a bonus from work! |

| Just like you, we have no way of knowing if it is a scam, or not. Because I do fosters I would check it out. Any dogs I pick up, go straight to the Vet and not to my house. I worry about infecting my healthy gang. I have rescued and rehomed 2 Yorkies off Craigslist and two mixes (Yorkiepoo and a Chorkie) they all were rehomed with forever families. Please be careful and always take someone with you. Teresa

| Aww hun, I'm pretty sure this one is a scam. I've seen the wording like this before. Someone rehoming one Yorkie, maybe, but two, a boy and a girl. Nah, it's a scam. They are probably fishing for email addresses. In that case, you won't hear anything back from them. You'll just get an email telling you there is 1 million dollars waiting for you in a bank in Nigeria. If they are scamming and do make contact, they will say they are far away and please send money to pay for the puppy to be shipped. Keep us updated.

Paris: Always in my ♥ Donating YT Member | I could use a million dollars....I know you are probably right. I was so excited last night I could hardly go to sleep. I even thought of the poor pup at the shelter I have a hold on. I was thinking of getting her but now I see how excited I was to "find" this undocked yorkie, and had second thoughts. I need to calm down and make a decision that will be right for that poor pup at the shelter and for me. |

| Oh, I agree. The worst that could happen is that you start getting junk emails. Have you looked at Yorkie rescues? They have some wonderful pure bred Yorkies just waiting for their forever home.
