| Dog Sitting my friends yorkie My husband and I are dog sitting my friends 3 year old yorkie. She has only had him for just over a year. Anyway, they dropped him off early this morning. He is much bigger than my yorkie mix, not neutered, marking and humping my dog, Raley. I put a belly band on him and he has cried and cried so my husband took it off. I look forward to them picking him back up on Sunday. He is sweet natured but I cannot handle the marking and the humping!!!!!! Raley is 2 1/2, neutered and does not mark! Any ideas on how to stop the humping?????????

| its a dominance thing....belly band is the only thing i could do to stop cedric from marking and hed get mad so i would remove and watch him like a hawk...then if he went to mark i would say cedric no marking. he finally understood if he lifted his leg in the house belly band on. sorry you having such a problem while babysitting. im so sure ur friend is very apprecative. he humped his toys and this all stopped after we got him neutered.

| I know my friend is appreciative. I just can't stand marking. I think I must be spoiled. My Raley still squats to pee and does not mark. He was neutered at 7 months old and never learned to hike his leg! The yorkie we are sitting belonged to another girl that the current owner and I both know. She gave him away because they "didn't have enough time for him". A month after my friend got him, the old owners had a new cocker spaniel puppy!! My friend was talking about having this guy neutered and I thought she had already done it. I just can't see her putting up with marking in her house, either.

| it might just be triggered by having another pet around him. it is a dominance thing to my knowledge so maybe thats why but honestly it took me awhile to figure out that cedric was marking, so maybe she is not aware of it. he was very slick about it to say the least. then i when i understood what he was doing well thats when we keep our eyes glued to him. lol

| I know that humping and marking is a dominace thing but ugh I don't like it. Raley is pretty passive until he has had enough. Once he's had enough he will put this other dog in his place. For whatever reason, each time we dog sit, Raley doesn't really want to play with the dog staying. He doesn't act jealous but he seems to prefer his little daily routine.

| The dog needs to be neutered for sure. Maybe he does not mark at home but obviously a dog that is not neutered is going to have issues away from home, especially with another dog around. It's not something I would want to have to deal with. |

| The last dog we kept was a dachsund. She destroyed everything she could possibly find. BUT--at least she was crate trained. My husband and I have decided that we are going to politely say no to everyone in the future. If each and every dog we kept had some form of obedience training it would not be so bad. We are so accustomed to our dogs behaving that when we have one that doesn't it drives us insane.
