| This is a good idea. Rather than a leash, I would use Tatiana's Pet-A-Roo. It's a pet carrier that's a front-wearing backpack. It has an inner leash to attach to her harness. Tatiana will be strapped to me. |

| When bad weather is about, all my babies go into crates...dont want to be looking for dogs when sirens start blaring...then if they tell us to take cover, I can collect my babies and go to our safe room. I have a duffle bag packed with duplicate EVERYTHING ON OR FOR EACH DOG!! I keep crates and emergency info and supplies packed for the dogs, in case we ever have to evacuate at a moments notice! |

And thanks to Susi I will now have extra harness/leash/ carrier stored in my closet, which is where we would head in an emergency.

| Thank You all for posting your Emergency Ideas. I would like to add two more things to the list. 1. Zip Lock in a plastic bag: copies of each dogs micro chip number, basic health information and up to date picture. in several places. (My sister has copies, one is in in the Doggy's first aid kit and one is in our safe.) Have both a human and doggy first aid kit in the house and one in the car.

| During the huge tornado outbreak here last year, I took shelter in a bathroom with our 2 furkids. I had them attached to their collar/harness and then attached them to beltloops on my pants!

| Very good advice, I would also like to add that in Georgia we live through Tornado season twice a year (Sping and Fall). I have a harness, leash and tag made special for this time of year (includes my name, vets name and our numbers). I also have what I call my "storm crate" that i keep in the basement loaded with her leash, harness, toys and copies of her vet records. I thought someone on YT made this recommendation to me a few years back.

I do keep an emergency bag packed in my car, even in the Florida heat. Unopened bottled water keeps just fine.

| Yeah, we don't "do" kibble so I have a few unopened samples in my car that they might possibly eat if they got hungry enough. I also have a couple of cans of pumpkin and unsalted green beans and tuna packed in water (along with a can opener) I am also going to purchase some Vacuum packed sweet potatoes (fully cooked no sugar added) and add them to my evac kit (Thanks, Cathy!)

| Great ideas!! We always seek shelter in my hubby's basement at his office. I don't have an emergency bag packed....always grab stuff last minute. We live in "tornado" alley and have to seek shelter several times during the season. Our small town actually got it by a tornado about 5 years ago. It touched down and started it's destruction in the building we were in. Luckily, this was the only building along it's path that wasn't demolished. Scary stuff!

| Tibbe goes in his airline carrier when we go to the bathroom when the sirens go off. He has his tags on but now he'll have his leash actually attached in case the door gets wrenched off the carrier. My demographics are on a label attached to the top of the carrier with Tibbe's at the bottom. I stick some soft toys in with him for cushioning should he tumble. That's all I know to do to keep him physically safe.

| I'm not in Homestead, but I remember Andrew...and the Floyd threat...and 4 in one season...and...water-filled bathtubs...and candles...and... ![]() I'm in Florida now, but I grew up in tornado alley. There is often not time to collect things when the weather really gets rough. It wouldn't be a bad idea to put an extra harness and lead with the emergency stuff in your shelter, either, and dehydrated pet food, etc., and if you can, store their carry kennels there. I am glad you were overlooked by the weather as far as the tornadoes are concerned. We ended up with flooding in this area from TS Debby, but except for a couple little branches in the yard, we personally were missed, too.
