| Help with fireworks Hi all. I will have my new puppy on Saturday. Was kind of wondering what you all do to help your babies deal with fireworks. Do they make tiny thunder shirts? Thanks in advance. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | How old is your new puppy? Joey's breeder told me that she acclimated her pups to noise. If a thunderstorm came, she took the pups outside. She said that it's important never to coddle them; your reassuring attitude makes them feel like something IS really wrong. This is very hard not to do, it doesn’t come naturally. Just talk in your normal tone and do what you normally would do. I’m not sure how much noise there will be from the fireworks, but you might want to put tv on a little higher than normal to block out the sounds. The first 6 months, you want to get them use to as many noises as possible, they really don’t become fearful until later. I do recommend almost everyone have their dog wear some type of tag on the 4th of July, this is the number one day of the year for dogs running away.
