well, I guess I could REALLY save a ton of money by dumping all my babies at 7 weeks of age.....actually, I am looking at these 6 week old babies, they are up and playing and cute as can be...maybe I should dump them now......Thinking about it, 10 days old, some have their eyes open....I would imagine as soon as they can get up on their legs, 4 weeks, maybe THAT would be the best time for ME, financially, to kick these little "pots of gold" to the curb....momma will get over it and stop searching for those babies....momma will quit coming to me for help finding where the babies have gone......unsuspecting people will fall in love with how adorable they are at that age, if they get sick or die, that will be THEIR problem not mine...wont cost me a dime!!! Well, sounding like a very profitable idea for me....except for ONE TINY HITCH......I adore these babies! I dreamed what they would look like, when I studied the pedigrees of both momma and dad, and then I got the chosen pair in tip top shape nutritionally, and they were bred, with a great expectation of what MY little dreams would look like and be! And now they are here! And I want the very best I can possibly give them...that means they will stay with me until they are ready to go to their new homes, to owners that have been closely scrutinized and approved, not just the first person that opens up their check book. And then there is momma....she will have done HER part and loved and nurtured and cared for and taught everything her God given instinct has been programmed into her genetics, to teach her babies. I guess I actually have no little "pots of gold"...actually, they are keeping me poor, they keep me honest, they keep me humble, and they keep me ever diligent to do the very best that can possibly be done for them. That means they go NO PLACE until MY job and MOMMAS job is completed, and that is at the very least 12 weeks of age, or until I say so! | |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I've thought about this long, and very hard. That being what happens in the day, that God be thanked we have no puppy mills, no bybers, no pet stores that sell dogs, no USDA licensed "kennels'? How would reputable, dedicated, breeders meet the demand? The answer is they won't and can't! I do not foresee a time that that could happen, unless the "demand" for dogs, comes down a huge huge lot. And a large part of me wonders, if that would be such a bad thing? Much of me believes it is a huge priviledge to own a well bred purebreed dog. I guess simply put there are no easy answers, as we do want as a society the right to own a dog, and as dog lovers ourselves would encourage would be good potential dog owners to own a dog. For we do so well know, how dogs enrich our lives. That our life would be poorer without our companion. Just some thoughts on a summer Sunday

| I read the thread you started about a 7 week old puppy you got that isn't sleeping at night. You mentioned that you have two other yorkies as well? Why another and 7 weeks was way too young for a puppy to leave a breeder. |
