I wanna cry

OK lets me say im a 6 foot 4, 275 ex USAF special force para Rescueman and today i left for work with tears in my eyes.
Today was the 1st day we left the puppy alone to go to work.

My daughter said he look like he is in jail.


The part that killed me was he was in his crate looking at me like WHY?

My wife emailed me said she feels bad

I know the feeling...and so does your Yorkie baby...and he will repeat the sad looks because if he can make you stay home with him by sad puppy eyes, then WooHoo for him!

Seriously, it breaks your heart...I know...we go through this every day, too, but he will probably sleep a good part of the day and be wired and ready to play when you get back. But he most definitely WILL GUILT you...over...and over...and over...lol

Brody GUILTed his Daddy this morning...kept running in front of him, then laying down in his path, head on the floor, sad eyes up-turned. Woosie Daddy ALMOST stayed home because Brody looked so sad. So, tonight, Brody and Mia will get lots of extra Mommy Lovies!

Aw! I know that 'look'... you're making me cry! If you decide against crate training, you could always gate off an entire room for him... like the kitchen... might feel a bit less like a 'jail cell'... he'll be sooooo happy when you get home!

How do you think Kacee ended up going to work with me? It's totally heartbreaking to leave them. The thing is that they do this every single time you leave and they know how to make you feel horrible, even if you're going to be gone for only a short time.

tis the saddest part....when i leave to go somewhere cedric is all over me with the sad eyes and his daddy is home with him all day!! lol

Now to my reply - it takes a tiny dog to bring a big man down . Sounds like you are an incredible yorkie daddy. This too will pass and all will be well.

I think its wonderful you have such a tender heart toward this little guy. They can wrap you around their little paws so easy. Ours are spoiled to the hilt and I wouldn't have it any other way. They give back so much in return. Good luck with your new baby and just love and enjoy him.

Awe I can completely relate. We just started leaving Georgie home alone for more than a couple of hours and he is almost 7!!! We live near his grandparents so we always took him there. They have such a sad look in their eyes it breaks your heart. Just know that your puppy will be just fine and super happy to see you when you get home Welcome to YT!

I feel your pain!! But it is so much better to have the little guy safe and sound!!! He is fine.

It really is hard to ever leave them even to go grocery shopping.

I don't know if this will help but I saved my yorkie's favorite treat (BilJac liver) and cut in half. I'd take her for a long walk and then the only treat I would give her was one half of that little treat.

At first it didn't register but after four or five days she was so excited to see me leave (which wasn't exactly great for my ego) but at least she wasn't sad to see me leave. Coming in you don't make all over them and just say Hi. It's when you leave you have your fun.

I'm so cruel but it worked, she would see me go to get my purse and do a little dance. lol

I taught my two to howl to the sound of sirens, I thought it was so cute and harmless... Now Abby started howling like that when I leave, I can hear her all the way out in the driveway.

Oh boy, do we understand how you feel!! I am retired now and my husband is unemployed so there is almost always someone home with our SIX little dogs. Things were not always that way but they really haven't been alone for the last year or so.

Zachary, my 18 week old Biewer Yorkie goes with us when we go out and rides in his little car seat between us (finally found a seat that will fit in my Silverado with stick on the floor so I can shift OK). He got car sick twice but today, in the seat, not being held, he was OK. Hopefully we are over that part of it.

And leaving them never seems to get any easier.

Awww, we all feel that way when we have to leave our lil furbabies. I still get that way, and mine are 6,5,3. But you are doing the right thing, by crate training.


As a puppy, I crate trained mine, and they really have learned to enjoy being in there. They feel safe, and protected. Sometimes mine will go in there just to be left alone and take a nap, and the door will be wide open.
I give them a toy to enjoy for when they are bored. I like the Kong. They like to try and get the treat inside. (it also makes them tired)

I am crate training a 6 month puppy, that we got a 8 weeks old, and all I have to say is crate and he goes right in there. He gets a small treat everytime he goes in there, so he doesn't fight me at all.

Enjoy him! They grow up so fast.

Oh, boy, he's got you going but good with the guilt. Don't worry since it is raging with all of us too when we have to leave ours. I've had Tibbe 4 years now & still can feel like a rat when I leave him standing up with his paws on the window sill watching me drive off. And when I come home & find him stretched out asleep on that same window sill hours later, it just breaks my heart. So get used to living with Yorkie guilt & know that you are in good company. And enjoy your little guiltmeister!!!
