Yorkie puppy coloring 1 Attachment(s) We put a deposit on a particular yorkie puppy and are scheduled to fully adopt soon. We noticed that the dog we chose seemed to have changed quite a bit in coloring and ears since the last photo we received. Please see attached photo comparison. Your advice is really appreciated. The image on the left is the photo we received at a little under 7 weeks of age. The image on the right is her now at 8 weeks. Is it possible for her to change this much in 11 days? (We did see the puppy and litter (2 girls and 1 boy) twice before putting down deposit but it is hard to recognize the same pup as they grow. We're wondering if the girls were maybe switched. We'd love your assurances that this is the same dog as we set our hearts on the girl in the 7 week old photo). |
It doesnt look like the same pup to me |
I agree, it doesn't look like the same pup. The pup on the left looks like it has much more black around the eyes & on the front leg. |
No, not the same puppy unless dye was used...and I doubt it. |
No they change but not a lot at that age. It don't look the like the same one to me. |

It's taken from a different angle, and the lighting might be different though - what will your next step be? :) Sally + Harry x |
usually when someone picks a pup the breeder will microchip it right away in order to properly identify and not get them mixed up, I would put that question to your breeder and say it doesn't look like the same pup. Tufty and his brother both had white blazes on their chest his was thin and his brother wider, did you see any markings on your pup that you recall when you made your choice? |
I would go back and look at them both before I would accuse of switching. They can change looks as they grow. I would for sure visit and see first hand |
It doesn't look like the same puppy to me. I got Toby at 6 weeks old and the only difference in him between 7 and 8 weeks was he got a little bigger. This pup went through a major transformation even the ears. |

I think that in the picture on the left the pups face looks darker than in the picture on the right but I'm not sure if this is the lighting in the picture or not? Often when they start to teeth the ears can fall a little so it's possible this is why the ears look different. I would contact the breeder and ask her why the pup looks so different in the updated picture. You may be able to tell better if you go for a visit again to see the pup for yourself. You will likely recognize the puppies behavior and personality during the visit too. :) |
It doesn't look like the same dog to me either. Ears that are up don't usually go floppy in a week. Strange. |
I think it is the same puppy. Some can lighten up a lot in a weeks time, it depends on the bloodline. I really think it is just the angle of the camera and the lighting that makes the two pictures look different. The puppy is adorable. |
I agree that some of it could be the lighting , but I still think the pup on the left has much more black on the face. Also the base of the ears looks to be much wider on the pup on the right. And yes, the ears will fall & stand up several times during teething so you can not go by the floppy ears. The pup on the right looks much stalkier then the one on the left but that could just be hair growth & a possible bathing. Still would not explain the drastic color change in the face in only 11 days time. |
Definitely not the same pup. The second one looks like a morkie or some sort of mix to me. |
