Only an SHADY breeder would do such a thing as switch a pup out for their benefit.:thumbdown

After much struggle, we finally got the girl pup our heart was set on. The stud's owner was kind enough to let us purchase her from them and the breeder gave us our deposit back. The stud's owners were so wonderful and understanding. I'm not sure how the confusion came about but they were kind enough to give up the girl they chose (which happened to be the one we had spent time with and were sent pictures of). Alls well and we're very happy!!!

Failed "slight of hand"...loving it! I am glad you got the baby you had put your money down on. Be very cautious in the future with this breeder.....trust me, this was NOT an accident.

I got distracted and never got my post up but it definitely looked like two totally different pups to me...I am not a breeder...just kind of observant and analytical. :p :D

So the breeder offered a pup that she was unavailable because the stud's owners get pick of the litter?

Or she offered you a pup the stud's owners later chose?

I'm sorry I've seen stuff liek this before, and went through somethign like it myself-I'm glad it all worked out for you.

I have my doubts about this being an accident, but who knows-even if it was-geez someone needs to get it together!

I'd not recommend or ever use a breeder like that again!

I'm not sure what happened. I know we put the deposit down on a particular dog after being told the other party chose the other girl the first week, we only interacted with this one pup, and we were sent a photo near the 7th week of the same pup. The breeder says that after a while the dogs started looking the same and she lost track (she was going through a very trying time). When adoption time came we were sent the photo of the other pup for pick-up. Right off the bat I noticed the change but I chalked it up to yorkie growth changes. We went to see what was the wrong pup that day. During the visit I kept on trying to convince myself it was the same one. When I got home I looked at the comparison photos and realized this was a drastic change for only 11 days. We really hated bringing this issue to the breeder's attention because we had grown fond of her and could not believe such a misunderstanding could happen. We understood later that she had offered the other party their choice of pups on the adoption day and they chose our girl (again we were told the choice already happened in the first week). Perhaps she thought they seemed so similar that it would not matter to us or we would not know or perhaps she genuinely misunderstood our intentions (though I do not know how). I still don't want to think badly of her as everything turned out well in the end and it was a very difficult period for her. We have our girl, that's all that matters. Still others out there should be extremely cautious. I think the microchip or some other identifier is a must to ensure the interests of the adopter.
