Dear FM ~ along with everyone else, my heart is breaking for you as I read this today. This truly is one of the major fears we all live with. Or, that they get out and cannot find their way back home.

Prayers for you and Choppa, that he is, as you hope, in a good home where he will be loved; or returned to you very soon.

It sounds like such a painful situation. I hope you are treating this just like you would if you thought he was lost. Report to the police, shelters, vets, newspapers, radio, make up posters. If someone knows where your dog is they may call you and let you know where he is. This happened not too long ago when a Yorkie was stolen. The owner advertized widely and a friend of the person who took the dog turned her in. Popular radio stations can be a big help if you approach them right. Get as many pictures out of him as you can. Someone knows where he is and it can't be kept a secret forever. Of course a sizable reward is a good incentive to get people interested.
I hope to hear a good ending to this sad story soon. Don't give up.
