I noticed several people on here have said they are meaning to get car seats for their yorkies so here's where I have found the BEST prices ever:

The green OUtWARD HOUND Car Booster Seat is currently on sale for $14.98
The black, blue and red ones are $17.99. If your order is under $100 they add $5 handling fee. But shipping is free. Check out all the cute pjs and toys they have. I love this website/catalog.

It could be a christmas present for your furry little friends.

The car seats I own really only lift them up to see out the window anyway, they are almost as flat as the seat of the car - you can see it in the picture - and offer very little protection. In my opinion, what is really keeping the dog safe is the safety strap and harness holding them in place. Something like this...

It's important that the harness fits well and the safety strap is not too long. They shouldn't fly forward if you slam on the brakes.
Just like with kids, the safest place is the back seat but if they are going to be in the front, strap them in. Hope that helps if you can't find a car seat.

Chester rides up front with me, he would have a cow if he wasnt next to me. I purchased a safety harness, that looks like a big harness it is padded on the chest side and the top part the seatbelt goes through, and he lays down and I dont think the airbag could get him, the name on it is called four paws I believe.

That's the one I have for my dog, the Four Paws brand. They also use these at the animal hospital where I work as slings for animals who have trouble walking. That actually was the original reason for my purchase, because my dog was dying and was having trouble walking.

I think its ok.. I let Ramsey ride up front with me all the time..
But my dad keeps reminding me that it is unsafe and I should transport him in his cage..

Everyone probably already knows this but I have to add...use a harness not a collar.

Definately! Even just on walks I use Harleys harness instead of his collar bc I know of the harm the pulling and tugging can do to his throat and neck.. besides the litter bugger pulls like a husky so the harness holds him back better anyway! So we both win! But I'm glad you said that though. Bc as obvious as it might sound to a lot of us there are probably some people who never thought about it.. better to be safe than sorry right?

I got so caught up with finishing Christmas shopping this weekend that I completely forgot to take these pics and post them! This is the Global Pet seat I have for Bouncer that is strapped in with a seatbelt. Then he wears his harness and is strapped into the seat that way. I also keep a heating pad underneath a blanket in it so that he'll have a warm spot to lay in in the mornings when we go to work. I absolutely love this thing and I hate it that they don't make them anymore b/c I would love to have another one for my little girl. The Lookouts by Global Pet are nice (that's what we sell at Bone Appetit), but they just don't beat this Mercedes of Carseats. haha
