Who would take care of your dog...

My husband would take my boys. He would treat them good, but probably wouldn't be so aware that I am if they may have a problem. Although yesterday he surprised me. Fletcher I noticed yesterday was kind of walking funny, not really sure what I mean by funny either, just not right. Last week he had a raw spot from his grooming right where his 'little guys' used to be. He licked it raw so it was a big spot and he was always at it, so we put an e-collar on him and antibiotic cream. It has healed up and he's leaving alone again, but now he seems to be walking funny a little bit. Nothing major and he's still running, jumping, playing, eating, drinking, everything is normal with him. I don't know if he is just being careful because he remembers his hurt spot and is afraid to test his limits still.
But my husband last night said something like Fletcher is walking a little bow legged. I was surprised that he noticed! So maybe he would make a really good doggy daddy on his own!

If he isn't able to keep them though, my mom would take them. I just need someone to get them to her. She lives about 2500 miles from me.

Other than that, I have NO idea who would take them and give them what I give them. Noone really! They are SUPER spoiled dogs and VERY attached to me.

My dh would take great care of them. BUt, if we both are gone, I honestly don't know of a person I trust with them. I know that sounds terrible but its true. I have a friend that told me she would like to have them if it came to both of us gone. She has poms and in the start I thought that was the answer. She and her husband seem to really love them. THen, one has come down with diabetes and she will not put out the money for the insulin for her. I knew right then, no way. I have to be assured mine will have the care they need. It is something to really think about and everyone else I know is working and too busy to add any babies.

this is so hard for me to think about because Ziggy would be so heart broken. But I think if Ziggy could pick, he would pick his granmother (my mom) he loves her so much and knows her by name, so I would hope she would take him

I've dragged my feet on that one. Obviously, my wife if I were to go first. The problem comes if we both go at the same time.

There's one couple I trust implicitly -- Nichole and Zach, our dogsitters. While I've never asked them point blank if they'd take them, I leave standing orders with my MIL that if anything were to happen to us that the Yorkies be placed in their care. If they couldn't keep them, I would trust her to find a good home for them.

When deciding that, it was important to me that I choose someone who really knows my dogs' personalities. Unless someone has cared for them, they don't truly understand what those issues are. Eddie can be snappy around other dogs when he's sitting on our laps or hoarding a toy. Jillie can be pushy and incite other dogs without realizing it. Nichole knows that, and I would trust her to explain it clearly to anyone who she placed them with. Obviously, I'd want her to keep them, but she has three little ones already. Five would probably be too many.

Lucy would return to the woman who rescued her originally, Robyn, but again, I've never asked her either.

But you've shamed me into following up. I'll see if I can formalize it!

My daughter would take my baby. She loves dogs. Has two of her own which I babysit while she works. She didn`t want to crate them all day.

How would you even go about telling people though? Me, for example, being 21 years old, I don't really wanna be like "so hey dad if I die, you will take care of Jackson right?" I feel like it's pretty much a given... Jackson literally lives there already half of the time, but I feel awkward putting something in writing or something... don't wanna freak my parents out (as my mom has already lost a child, my brother, so honestly she's already super over protective). You know? I feel like it's not something you talk about.

It is sad when family members take grandma or grandpa's pets to the shelter. How cruel!

I know my younger daughter would take Gracie if something happened to me.

Some people need to get things like this in writing if there is any question about what will happen to the pets in the event of their passing.

For Jackson's well being maybe you could put something in writing and give it to your dad to hold onto just in case. Hopefully you will live a long full life but if some untimely thing ever did happen your dad would be able to say that you had already taken care of that detail. Just print it up and ask him to keep it in a safe place for you.

i think my ex would take Dexter, but since Pep is a lot more fragile, i don't think he would be the best choice to take care of her. I think my sister would take pep since her dogs already know pep, are gentle with her, and they had a tiny chihuahua before so know the type of care a tiny needs.

My daughter would take Cali. Nikki is so old and blind so if he was still alive my family would have to find him a special home. Pixie and Roxie would need to go together and I have no one that would take them. I have told my sister and dd to contact YT and they would help find a good home. I am sure my dear friend Connie would help make sure they found a good home. It's hard to think about but as I am older you start worrying about this, especially with multiple dogs.

I feel bad I didn't say my husband I guess I was thinking if we were both gone. If I was to go first it's a given he would take them he loves them as much as I do
