Yeah, it is pretty awful They just scratch themselves silly I have ordered some Flea Treats that someone here posted about on the Flea Preventative thread. I figure they can't hurt, and will use them in conjunction with their regular meds. I'd be too afraid to risk using only homeopathic remedies, and you do have to apply that stuff every single day. Mine hate any kind of sprays and whatnot, but a treat they'll go for

Thanks so much They are both snoozing away and while they still have itched some since the vet, it's much much less now. I'm glad that only one of them had the skin infection, I knew Luna was much worse off, her skin was all bright pink, poor baby.

Yes, much better now, thank you Still scratching here and there, but much less. I think half of it is like a habit, once they get started they don't seem to wanna stop I feel like a terrible mom for even waiting these couple of days to get them to the vet. I didn't think it was too bad and that it would stop once the fleas were gone, but it didn't. Glad I got them there before the weekend!

Thanks I feel silly now, because they didn't have any sores or REAL signs of mange. Google can also be your enemy I was half convinced that's what it was from everything I could dig up on itchy dogs

I wonder if after you use a certain product for so long if it doesnt lose its effectiveness. Ive heard of this happening over and over on here

Yeah, probably. Vet said that the fleas become resistant to a product after a while. I wish they'd have TOLD ME that They still have the stuff on the shelves though

Agreed!!!! I will be taking all of these steps that haven't been done yet in my home. I am also going to get hubby to deck over our two remaining small areas of grass. I'm so DONE with the weeds and mowing anyway I'll just have to mow the front after that

We didnt deck ours but we put a pond in and did plantings and it is so nice to not have to deal with grass. We are going to do another water feature in our front yard and plant hostas and ivy and get rid of the grass there too. Our front yard is so small right now we just take a weed eater to it its nice

That sounds lovely And hey, it's environmentally friendly too Our grass is mostly weeds and so dry and brown anyway. I'll get hubby to deck in the back sections, then start working on him to just plant some ground cover in the front. We already have a huge patch of some kind of vine-y ivy looking stuff over the septic tank, so hey, head start

Years ago when we had our Shih Tzu puppy he started losing hair on his back and his skin looked a darker color. I took him to the vet and they told us he had a flea allergy. I didn't even find a flea on him! They told us that some of these allergies are so severe that it only takes one flea walking over the body to set off a huge reaction. Our poor puppy needed a steroid shot and of course some flea preventative that he had to have all the time.

Thanks She is much better today, her skin was this awful hot pink and it's now her normal colors. Izzy is better too, that shot helped break the itching cycle for both of them, thank goodness. It's incredible what ONE flea will do to my poor babies. Even after getting rid of the fleas, they were still itchy and Luna was especially inflamed and had actually developed a secondary infection Vet said it can sometimes take a couple of weeks after the fleas are gone for their skin to settle down, ugh! I can't stand to see my girls suffering at all, they are my heart
