| ![]() It just sounds like he's going to be a little bit bigger. My neighbors yorkie is 13 lbs. I would ask the vet for their assessment/opinion of his weight and overall health before changing your feeding regime. As for poop eating, I've read that if you feed pineapple, it makes the poop unappealing to them. I have not had to deal with that though. Welcome to YT!

| ![]() Although I'm sure your puppy is adorable you are going to have a good sized dog. There are all sizes of Yorkes and if you are totally unaware of the parents breeding you have no way of even guessing what size your puppy will turn out to be. Maltese also used to be a larger dog than you see in the show rings today and all of these dogs still carry genes that can produce the larger size of the breed. Puppies that are bought from pet stores are taken from their mom's at a very early age in order to make buyers think that this will be a very small dog because they know that is what the public wants. Sometimes they just outright lie about the age. Back yard breeders know nothing about the background of their dogs and most times they are producing the larger size of the breed and many times they are not good representatives of the breed. Those who have gotten their hands on some small breeding stock charge huge amounts of money if they think they may have a tiny to sell. These smaller dogs are prone to genetic disorders not to mention other issues that have not been addressed by the breeder. I am not giving you a lecture. I hope you will love your dog no matter how big it gets. I just want you to be aware of what is going on in the dog breeding market. Everyone is out to make some "easy' money by selling these cute little puppies. It is sad that many times they grow much larger than the buyer wanted or the owner ends up with huge vet bills from trying to save the life of their little dog. Welcome to YT. Please read the "sticky" info listed at the top of each forum or go to the library. There is a lot of good info here. |
