Will today we did a low profile for our bed so Bentley and Prissy can get up and down on it. We even had a small foot stool that we made into a step for them to jump onto from the floor to it and then onto the bed. We was amazied as how fast they learned where to go. |
1 Attachment(s) She used to sleep at the foot of the bed. Guess is looked more comfy under the covers! |

Kristy has been sleeping with us since she was about 5 or 6 months old. It just kind of happened. My husband felt bad when she was whining one night and that was it, she never went back to her floor pillow! LOL I love it though! She takes turns cuddling up to our legs though everyone once in a while she'll actually growl at me if I move the wrong way HA HA She is a hoot! Seriously, she is the sweetest pup in the world and has never had a bad dog moment. She is very submissive. She never ever growls at anyone or even any other dogs. She has so much love. We are very lucky! Even my Mother in law loves her and can't wait to vist us and spend time with her LOL |
I did not start out with Chloe sleeping in the bed with me. I had her in her small kennel, first ON the bed, then near the bed, just trying to train her. She was not potty trained, and I didn't want any accidents in the bed. Plus, she was SO LITTLE!! And with a higher bed, I kept her in the kennel for her own safety. But, I guess she was about 3 months old when she started sleeping with me some. She would curl up on the other pillow, so I would stay our of her kennel. She moved to the bed when she started sleeping through the night more. Of course, if she got up, I did too... So now, if she needs to be in the kennel at night, she can sleep in the kennel if we are traveling or something. |
Did your pups just know to settle down and sleep when you put them on your bed? Or were they bouncing around like crazy on this awesome new fluffy surface? The few times we have taken Roxie in bed with us (like on a lazy Sunday morning), she gets all excited and won't sit down. She just kind of runs around the bed. Only one time, when I wasn't feeling well, and DH was at work, did she actually curl up and sleep with me on the bed. |

I honestly would get him use to sleeping in a Kennel. Peanut has always slept in his- I have a larger one, and 2 old pillows in there for his bed and a big throw blanket, I also throw a blanket over it so it is like his little "den" He loves it! Sometimes he doesn't want to get out! Get him use to sleeping in there and being alone, you never know one day you might need him in there :D |
I don't blame pookie |
Every one just curls up and goes to sleep at bed time. Sometimes if they are sooooo tired they go to bed first and leave me in the living room hahahaha |

Gerogies Momma Can you tell me how you have gotten your pictures to flash from one to another I would love to do that with Bentley and Prissy photos. |
Good point Lovespandp:) I will try over these next few days to get him used to his pen-"house" lol. But it's going to be so hard, he is so cute, I know I will want him in bed with me. Esp if he cries...tough love is approaching. |
ha... good question... here was/is my story. Until my boys were 6 months old, they slept every night in a crate with a blanket and a ticking clock, they slept soooo good. I also put a blanket over the crate and they felt right at home. Then, I let them sleep with me. Now I am married.... and my husband would like some part of our bed back and we have tried putting them in their own bed that is practically on our bed. Still they end up in our bed. In our faces, sleeping on the pillows, I wish I didn't let them sleep with me from the beginning now. I wish I put their bed on the stand at the end of my bed so they could sleep with me but not in my bed with me. Now I have 2 bed hogs who are also space heaters and I am soooo hot and uncomfortable most nights because they curl up on top of me! haha I love my little buggers to pieces, they are literally my heart & soul... but I wish I had my own bed again! :) Oh and Ive woken up with ticks in my bed and on me because they come in on them and transfer to my bed. That is just GROSS!!! |
WOW Celstu1. Uhhhhhh...decisions decisions...I want to start him off the right way so I wont have to force him to change later. Its a tough one. I'm hoping some how he can be comfortable sleeping in bed with me sometimes, but also know how to sleep in his own bed. I may switch off. |
I don't allow our dogs in our bed at night. Mine have their own beds and kennel area. I'm afraid for my dog's safety if they slept in our beds, we all roll and toss I'm afraid one of the dogs could get kicked, smooshed, pushed off the bed or otherwise injured. We previously had a bed that was over three feet off the ground so just the sheer height of it was dangerous for the dogs. Also it's just gross to me that my dogs go in the yard barefoot run around barefoot in the house and then would put their feet on our bed. So for their safety and my germ-a-phobie they have beds under our bed and their kennel beds. |

I'm with you on this...Marley wont be outside for a while (I want him to have all his shots including the rabies shot which some sites say wait until he is 4 months, others say wait until he is 6 months). So I do believe he will be clean enough, but my bed is high up, I have a box spring, and TWO mattresses (love a high bed). I'm a very light sleeper, the slightest thing wakes me but I dont want to hurt him. |

You could always wash their feets off as we do at night when it get's bed time, we even was their little boy or girly area so their clean for the night. Our two still sleep in the playpen until about 4:00 a.m. then it's fake potty trip just so they get to sleep with us until 5:30 or 6:00 a.m. then it's potty time for real and breakfast by 6:30. |
Marley is home!!! He is everything and more!!! I can't believe how good he is! He does what I do, if I am up and playing, he is up and playing, if I lay down, he sleeps on me. Lastnight was the big x-pen test. it's located next to my bed. I put him in it around 9:30pm, he went right to sleep. In the morning, I saw two ocassions of poopy on his pee pad which means he left his crate to go and then went back to bed!! This morning we went for a walk (after he ate like a champ). I thought I'd try the pen in the daytime, see how he would react. He cried for all of 1 minute, and fell asleep!!! As I type this, he is in my room, in his pen, quiet as a mouse!!! I feel so blessed, and this makes me feel so much better about leaving him in there for a few hours some days:) Check out my avatar, isn't he something:) |

Out of my ten at least 5 of them sleep with me every night:). As soon as they see mommy heading to bed they are all standing at the gate waiting for me to pick them up and up to bed we go. They all have their own spot and a few of them would stay in bed all day I swear if I didnt move. I love them so so much!!! |
i have morgan sleeping with me part of the night// he starts out in his crate and then after about 5 hours he wants in my bed |
Of course! |
Altering males IMHO is safer should be done earlier and aids in dominance behaviors. With yorkies weight as a lot to do with it. Please have preop blood work done at least 48things hrs before and again the morning of, my scoobers was altered at 5the months and he still marked a belly band and training was critical for him elvis is still unaltered until princess was altered he only marked when she was in heat. Elvis is between 4-6showing years old. |

Mollie had slept with me ever since she came home she is now 11. It was about 8 months ago that she wanted to start sleeping in her little fluffy bed some nights mostly when her arthritis is bothering her. It was funny because my husband who is a dog lover had never let a dog stay in the bed. When we got Lizzie she was like no way are you getting up there without me she has her 1 spot that she stay in. Then when we got Abbie she had that same sad sad look. Then she was laying sprawled out as well I have trained my girls not to jump off the bed so they will as my husband puts it snake you with the paw or bark and look down. If I don't put them on the bed the will sit and growl at us. Once you get them up there it is for life. It really bothered me when Mollie started wanting to sleep in her tiny bed |
Mine sleep with me. Jack does sometimes get up in middle of night and goes to his own bed. He cannot jump on bed, Josie can but I do have a rubber made box on other side of bed he can get on bed that way. It has a baby blanket and little pillow on it sometimes he sleeps on it. (I put it on the other side of bed so it cannot be seen when you go in my room.) He is very hot nature and I think he goes to a cooler area when he gets too warm. Josie stays there until I get up, unless she gets thristy or has to potty. But she returns. |
