Well, my maltese has been sleeping with us since she was potty trained, over 12 years now. Bayleigh (the yorkie) always sleeps with us when we're RVing, and occasionally at home, but mostly puts herself in her crate and keeps poking her head out til we close the door...and YES they like to be really close. Who knew how heavy a 6.5 lb dog could be when sleeping! |

I think she got the message. Not once has she done it. |

Can some tell me do you have steps for the Yorkies to go up and down on to get on and off of the bed. Our bed is really high up |
Yes. I built them myself and I smash my tow on them at least once a day. I think my foot is permanently disfigured because of that. |
Both of ours have slept with us from day 1 pretty much I tried to have my yorkie sleep on the floor next to the bed because I was afraid of him falling off. Needless to say we ended up changing our bed to a low profile platform, and brutus happily sleeps on the pillow on his daddys head. Luna starts in her bed usually on the floor and always ends up in the bed. |
My baby sleeps with me every night. She doesn't have steps to get up and down but she has never jumped off either. She sleeps all night and wakes me up in the morning with kisses and waits for me to get up to take her out. I wouldn't have it any other way. |

"These are the simple rules. No barking, now growling, you will not lift your leg to anything in this house. This is not your room. No slobbering, no chewing, you will wear a flea collar. This is not your room. No begging for food, no sniffing of crotches, and you will not drink from my toilet. This is not your room." |
Avery definitely sleeps with me. What I do is take a blanket and curl it in a circle on the other end of the bed and he lays in it. This prevents him from getting too close to me and me accidently rolling on him. HOWEVER, sometimes he does stray from the blanket and it's just an instinct to wake up and move him. Whenever the hubs is here, he snuggles us, but keep in mind we're only in a double bed--- I envision it a lot easier to sleep in a larger bed. Since we keep the house FREEZING at night in South Louisiana, making Avery sleep on the floor, in his bed, would be cruel. First off, he hates the fan because it annoys him and secondly-- he's only 4 lbs and I totally think he's cold 24/7. I see nothing wrong with your pup sleeping in your bed. |

I have had yorkies for over 40 years and chihuahuas and they have always slept with me. I would have it no other way! |
Yep! One of mine pee'd on my down comforter this morning! Take a guess which one did it? Can you clean these things? I just barely bought this one! I don't want to throw it out yet. (the blanket, not the dog. well.... maybe the dog..... no... no.. not the dog) |

Looks like I'm blanket-less for the night then! I need the stuffing out of the dog, just not ON the blanket. |

Roxie does not sleep with us. She doesn't even sleep on the same level of the house that we do. Her bed is in the living room on the main floor, and she is very happy sleeping there at night. Our bedroom is up a long and carpet-less flight of stairs, so she very rarely even comes upstairs at all. We also happen to have a very high bed. She would never be able to get on and off of it on her own...even with a set of pet stairs (we tried that). I'd also be terrified of her falling off in the middle of the night and getting really hurt. I don't feel bad about this setup anymore. I know we each need our space ;) |
Sleeping on bed Shelby has slept on our king size bed since 8 months. we crate trained her and she got to where she would wine, cry and jump on the crate walls all night long so one night i put her in bed with us and bam she has been quite all night every since. she does still need to go out 1 time most nights as she is just over 3 pounds so i think she just has a tiny bladder. There is nothing like waking up in the morning and having your "sunshine" kissing and snuggling you. it's the best way to start the day with a laugh :) |
Thank you all for your replies:) I think Marley will be sleeping with his mama:) |
When Sir Bentley got to 3 months old we started him sleeping in the Playpen in our master, and there was a few times that he would cry and I would get up and put him in bed with us and when he went to sleep I would pick him up and put him back in the playpen, so we got a new TV for the master bedroom so it could be on the same channels as he was use to listing to upstairs with his Daddy all night and he got to where he sleep in the playpen. Now he stay up in the man cave when his Daddy get's down watching the fights on TV about 1:30 and he comes to bed he puts him in the playpen and he sleeps most of the night there. Around 4:00 a.m. he wants up but my husband will say Bentley lay down go back to sleep it's not time to get up and he will. Now Prissy has never slept in the bed with us she has always sleep in the playpen, but here last week she was able to jump out of it a couple times. So she doesn't like to be dressed so I put her shirt on her and she will stay still all night long until 5:00 and then she has got to go potty so Bentley barks for her and jumps up and down in the playpen. Take her shirt off take her to the potty room and she will go pee on the pad and walk around and go pooh on the floor, better than on the carpet. now Bentley he still Bentley off to the dinning room he will go and no matter how long you stay in the potty room with him he just won't go in there. Hope he out grows it. We have enough carpet cleaning machines to start our own business. LOL |
I have two female Yorkies. Scooter is six and Jilly is five. I've had them since each was one year-old. Jilly sleeps with me on a spot she chose on the bed near my feet. She asks to come up during the night when she gets lonely. She has her own bed near mine. She stays with me until I get up regardless of the time. When she gets up, she goes out and then eats her breakfast. Scooter prefers her own bed in the bottom of my closet. She likes to get up on the bed while I take a shower and get dressed. She's pretty independent and moves around a lot during the night going from her bed to other favorite spots around the house. Daddy gets up early and she hits him up for breakfast and a tiny treat from his sandwich that he makes for his lunch. Actually, these two dogs don't do anything together. They really aren't friends. I've tried to do things to help them like each other, but they just don't. |
Cooper definitely sleeps with us! He even has his own pillow he puts his head on. We were scared of rolling over him at first, but I feel like I'm aware of where he is, even while I'm sleeping. |
Mine sleeps with me too. I recently bought a new bed frame that is much much lower than the one I had before just for Kaji's comfort. It has no box spring, which makes bed skirts unusable much to my mom's dismay. When I go out of town and Kaji can't come along, he stays with like minded people that don't mind sharing their bed. :) |

My wife allowed bentley to sleep with us the 1st week we got him and now he has his spot in the bed were he curls up everynight and if we are in his spot he lets us know we need to move lol |
Katie Scarlett only sleeps in our bed on nights the hubby is home. He works odd hours and is not home every night. On nights he is out of the house, she sleeps in her big girl bed. She usually is pretty good about going right to sleep and not putting up a fuss no matter where she is sleeping. |
