| ![]() It only happens in unspayed females of any breed. Well, it can happen in spayed females but it is very very rare. The signs can be different for every dog and it depends on if the pyometra is what is called open or closed pyometra. Many times, you don't know there is a problem until your dog has a very high fever. We were lucky, because my Moka had the closed pyometra. My vet found it during her scheduled spay and he told me I was very very lucky. If ever you don't feel you are getting the answers you think are right from your vet, it never hurts to check with another one.

| ![]() Welcome to YT!!! I would reconsider breeding your baby!!! Enjoy and love her..yorkies tend to have so many problems when bred... females die very often.. Dont risk it!! You would die yourself if something happened to her!!! Again, Welcome to YT!! I hope you learn alot!!! ![]()

| ![]() Vets are not experts on the various breeds of dogs. They have medical knowledge about health and emergency issues. If you want to learn about breeding any particular breed talk to a successful show/breeder that has a wonderful record of producing beautiful specimens of the breed for many years. They are the professionals. They have been through it all and have seen it all. Advice like the you received was off the cuff and totally unprofessional. I would advise you to research some real professional people who have records of winning in the ring on a regular basis. |
