Our groomer called today to cancel tomorrows appointment. Seems her house was broken into and the thiefs took her Yorkie. What kind of world are we living in....
BTW the groomer is located in LI NY

Maybe my friends won't think I am paranoid now. We have cameras all around and in the house..

That's crazy and sad that some one would do that. Did they take anything else or just the yorkie?

I just wonder if they were watching her or something and new she had a yorkie and only stole the yorkie.

I have been thinking about this exact thing lately for some reason. Very scary! Poor lady, I hope they find the doggy!

Did they take anything else? Some dogs have been recovered after home break ins because they were not actually taken but got out the door when the house was broken into.

Oh no, this is so sad! I can only imagine how devastated she must be. She not only has to deal with the fear that will following the invasion but to lose her most precious possession

My heart breaks for her and I pray her baby will be returned to her safe and sound.

Very sad, I too have a security system. I can't imagine what its like to have someone steal my beloved pets, I just can't.

wow sorry to hear that, I hope that is the case that the yorkie either got out or other stuff was taken and often the thieves will find dealing with the dog to be a hassle. Hopefully she get the TV news involved that can often help. I am assuming this happened in Queens, that's a pretty developed area close to NYC, lots of traffic and buildings, hope the dog would be safe if it got out

Lola loves to go with me on errands and when not to hot or cold I sometimes leave her in the car, I am getting much more uneasy about that, luckily she sleeps and does not look out the window, but I must come back to the car or look out the window of where ever I am about every 15 min. I often take her in the places but someplaces I can't so it's a real dilemma

In the nicest, gentlest, kindest way I say...no dog, child, elderly aunt, or other helpless living, breathing thing, should be left locked in a car, period. I'm sorry, I totally disagree with this practice, totally. Please find another solution for your your precious pup, please. And I totally understand why you would be uneasy, you should be.

I agree about not leaving anyone in a car....ever. Temperatures rise quickly even in cold temperatures. It's so easy to break into a car these days. They don't need to see your dog. They may just want the car.

At our last place we had a break in and couldn't find one of our cats. We found her later out in the yard. Hopefully she finds her little one soon and he wasn't stolen.

There have been several dog nappings in my area lately, mostly farm dogs because they are the easiest to take. There is a new testing facility in the area that pays $25 a dog/cat no questions asked, I'm sure that is where they are going. It's bad enough that they are doing the animal testing but the fact that they are basically encouraging pet theft really pisses me off.
