Very good points but boy does Georgie look pitiful when we walk out the door LOL. He gives us his sad face and starts shaking like something is wrong. We finally caught on to his game LOL. My husband and I agreed 1 Yorkie and 1 skin child and we are good to go;)

Kinda, true... And the so called "rejects" that cannot be sold for top $$$ are the ones that probably suffer the most next to the pups who have outlived their usefulness as a breeding machine. A young lady on this forum rescued one from the snowy streets "literally"

I know the face as well. But mama has to work to keep the kibbles on the table lol. He's lucky, as he has had me all to himself for 2 mos!!!

We just acquired our first Yorkie puppy from my mother-in-law who has raised Yorkies for about 20 yrs now. Her breeding stock is all from champions with the mother weighing 4.5 lbs and father at 6.0 lbs. This last litter she had 4 puppies with 2 smaller ones, with a male being born smallest and female just an ounce heavier, within 2 weeks the male overtook the tiny female. We got her and now she is 11 weeks today and weighs only 20 ounces, very healthy, full of vigor and eats like a horse...only fed the best quality dog food,,,,using Holistic Select which is rated tops on the advisor forum for dog food. We also give select human food. We are experienced dog people showing dobermans in past and currently have four other dogs. I was concerned with her small size, but we have no intention of breeding her anyways and she will be spayed when old enough. Mother-in-law had one male that weighed 2.4 lbs and he was perfectly healthy and lived to be 16 yrs old and was actually killed in the door before he died a natural death.
She is good breeder and does not breed for smaller yorkies at all, but I think this one we have will be under 3 lbs it appears! She is beautiful and has demonstrated extreme intelligence and is doing so well in the housebreaking....totally into the routine now. She acts no different than her bigger siblings. She has a full sister from prior litter that is 3 lbs and she was spade as well. We love her so much! Has the absolutely best personality I have ever seen in a puppy!
The big dogs are totally seperated from my other pom/pekinese and her, my 12 yr old aussie thinks she is her puppy, she actually nurses on dry nipples and aussie licks her all over while she is trying to nurse. She is so gentle with her and she is in the main house as well. My doberman female and german wirehair female are kind with her too, but they have access to inside of house in a limited area and puppy cannot get to them just in case. We are very watchful and I can see the extra care and supervision that HAS TO TAKE PLACE when you own one of the smaller yorkies for sure!!!! Smart, smart puppy for sure, we are excited to have her none the less even if she is tiny!!!

Excellent!!! Congratulations on your precious little baby girl! You and the family seem very experienced with breeding and your mother has invested in strong building blocks for her breeding program. She, like many of us, ended up with some small babies in a litter. The WONDERFUL thing is, they are healthy, dispelling the overwhelming majority of impressions that ALL runts are unhealthy....we know that is NOT true.....being "tiny" does not automatically relegate that baby to the realm of predetermined physical, mental, or emotional shortcomings! Thoroughly enjoy your little princess!

Roxy, was the runt of her litter and Zoey had a little mystery spot on her side- So I kept them both. IMO- Ethical breeders are very careful where they place any of their puppies especially the tiny ones. Limited registrations is a must- IMO.

ABSOLUTELY!!! I am still working on getting over that poor poster that received a too young puppy, a tiny little thing, that was shipped to her on an 8 hour plane trip, with lay-over....and she lost the baby within a couple of days......understandibly devastated, heart broken....TOTALLY unnecessary and uncalled for.....I BLAME THE "BREEDER", who is supposed to be looking out for her puppies, first and foremost!!!! JUST BECAUSE YOU SOLD THE BABY, YOU ARE NOT ABSOLVED FROM THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THAT BABY'S WELL BEING!!! THIS WAS WRONG, ON SO MANY DIFFERENT LEVELS, NONE OF WHICH WERE THE BUYER'S FAULT......but SHE is the one out the money, and left with nothing but a broken heart......

I can tell you for the first 2 years I was scared to leave him and didn't. He always went to his grandparents. Now we leave him for 3 hours or so but anymore than that he goes to his grandparents;)

Those type of situations are really sad. If your on here long enough you see that type of situation or one where the dog is extremely sick play out that you kinda become numb to it

Thats nice that you have parents to help. Miles is a trooper!!! He doesn't like it but I leave home when I am working. He has food, water, toys, bed, etc. I made his exercise pen bigger as the bed and potty take up a lot of room. One time I came home and caught him napping in his little day bed. When I am working we spend a lot of time together in the morning and I am always home at night so it's not too bad for him. He's gonna die when I go back to work though. :(

If I was buying from out of state I would travel myself to pick up the puppy and travel back with her- Not ship. IMO- If you don't have a few hundred dollars or it is too time consuming to hand pick up you puppy than you really should not be getting it. Pets especially dogs are inconveniences that you will have for the next 10-15 years on average. That is just me.
