Welcome Hello and welcome. I have been a yorkie lover for 25 years. I now am the proud Mom to four yorkies. They are like potato chips you can have just one. I purchased my first two from a friend that bred his female to his Dads male, so I decided before I got another yorkie after my first yorkie passed at 18 years old of kidney failure, That I would not get just one. So I got two. Jackie and Sadie. They are so close. they are best friends and they are never apart. The other two are rescues. I do yorkie rescues in my area, and Julie and Rosie both are puppy mill pups. I find on a weekly basis I see them in the local Animal controls all of the time. I have people that call me regularly to see if I can find them a home for their yorkie. They have some real lame excuses on why they need to surrender their yorkie. But that is okay, they do not deserve to keep then any way. They are much better off in their new home. If you are not set on having a puppy check your local animal control or rescue groups. Good Luck and Welcome. |
There is so much to know about getting a purebred dog and a small one in particular. There are huge amounts of people trying to take advantage of people looking for little dogs. AKC papers mean nothing about the quality of the dog. Puppy mills offer AKC or CKC papers. Dishonest breeders can switch litter registration papers around so you have no idea who the real parents of the dog are. Price is not a sure indication of the quality of the dog either. There are scamers out there pricing dogs in the thousands of dollars and claiming they are selling you a "tea cup" Yorkie. Many times these puppies are sick and many times they end up to be larger than the average Yorkie. Stick around and read as much as you can here and contact a local Yorkie breed club in your area. A good pet quality puppy from a good breeder could cost from $800.00 to $1200.00. Find out as much as you can about the breeder. Most online ads are scams from puppy mills and back yard breeders. Pet store puppies come from puppy mills. |

Hi Donna And welcome to YT you came to right place for imformation. I am from Pa also I live in Chambersburg Pa. Where in Pa do you live? we have some other's from Pa here also. Take your time and do your home work and you will find that perfect pup. I found my perfect pup 4 month's ago she is now 6 month's old and her name is Luci. Her breeder was retiring from breeding so they could travel. I found her in a clasified ad. Went to her home a couple time's before i decided. Luci really picked me. My vet said if you want to see a perfect puppy Luci is one. She had me wrapped around her paw's in no time. I just love her she was piddle pad trained when she came to me at 12 week's old, Has not had an accident yet. But I think I got lucky. I hope you have the same success I had. Have a lot of fun in finding your perfect pup.:p |
I am in Williamsport Pa. I had spoke to a few people and have found there are rarely yorkies in the rescues here, I am not sure why. I would love to get one from a rescue, would feel like I am giving a yorkie a second chance. Thanks again. |
