| BTW not every older dog is house broken. Sometimes that is the problem and the reason it was surrendered. |

| In a story of also being Canadian, I rescued a yorkie from a rescue group out of province earlier this year and had him shipped to me. I was in contact with another rescue group, who have a division specifically helping transport rescues (whether it be between rescues or from a rescue to a forever home). An incredible kind and very nice WestJet employee delivered him to me...taking 5 flights to all sorts of places to get him me. Each rescue simply differs. I know all the ones I deal with locally have no problem with shipping, they just have a local rescue do your home check in the meantime. In fact, the rescue I dealt with ended up accepting a video I had of my made of my home instead of doing a home check since they were having a hard time getting in contact with my local rescue. I paid for shipping (including the WestJet employees plane ticket and his parking), and for a carrier in order to transport him in addition to his adoption fee. My foster mom was fantastic, accommodating and got everything in line (including drugs..thankfully) in order to get him to me. Everything involving the flight was arranged for by myself...my rescue had never shipped a dog before, so they were very green. I also did a two week trial and would have arranged the same sort of transportation to send him back had it come down to us having an issue with him. In the end, he's a bundle of joy (and insanity) who fits into our lives very well. |
