When I first inquired about Corky, I asked his size... I was happy that he was 9 pounds. He is now 11 pounds. Although my daughter is 13, I have nieces and nephews who are younger. Having a larger dog, works for us. He is not carried, but walks and when he is able he runs and plays with the kids.

I agree they do need to be a bit larger to play and rough house with active small children and even then children must be taught that being too rough can hurt them so they should be careful.

I have a Biewer who is 3.5 lbs. I had a Silky Terrier last time. He was all of 12 lbs. My Both great dogs!!
