Well I was just wondering because sometimes we do get rodents. I've never seen a rat but I have seen a skunk in my backyard. He and Cesar were face to face and Cesar was just barking at him. The skunk just ran from him. I saw the skunk and I yelled for him to come in but he wouldn't. Luckily the skunk did not spray and just ran away. I'm guessing he must have sprayed and didn't have any left otherwise we'd be in trouble.

Cesar doesn't back down from anything though and that's what scares me. Hopefully if he did catch something outside he'd just kill it and drop it.

My last yorkie, Chelsea, at 14 weeks old caught and killed a mole in our backyard in seconds! I was amazed at how fast she was. She did drop it...but then she rolled on it...I was disgusted and couldn't scoop her up and get to her the bathtub fast enough....ewww!

On a postive note, our yard was mole free from that point forward. I'm sure there were more than just one mole, so I don't know if they flee when they smell the presence of a terrier???

They say cats are one whisker away from being completely wild. Wouldn't surprise me if something similar were true of Yorkies!

When I lived in the deep southern part of Alabama, I discovered the crawl space of my house was a haven for the brown recluse. I moved out of the house for a month while it was exterminated and never did settle back in there. Not long after that, I sold the house and moved to Utah.

On rats... I can't picture Gabby indulging the effort to move off my lap to chase one. We had a mouse get into the house back in December. The whole family was watching tv and Gabby was on the arm of the couch right next to me. Out of the blue, the mouse casually walked across the livingroom floor. I was stunned, looked at Gabby and she looked back at me as if to say "You gonna get that?"Lazy dog.

LOL, that's so funny, I can just picture it.

I literally passed up going tp Australia when I heard about the spiders there.

We have the house here pest sprayed sure we say it's for ants, termites etc...really if it strictly killed spiders, we'd do it.

The spiders in Oz aren't that bad. I was born, bred and raised there. The funnel web is about the only one you REALLY have to worry about. The rest of them either stay away from you or live in the bush. There are some pretty big ones there though. Some look more vicious than they really are.

I have never seen a terrier kill before but that is exactly what Gracie does when she gets all crazy as she is playing! She will shake the daylights out of her toys! I sometimes wonder is she won't hurt her neck the way she shakes with such force! She growls at the same time she shakes. I guess she does have the terrier instinct in her. I think that has something to do with her bossy personality.
