Lately Scooter will not stay outside when I come in the house. He will be playing or just sitting on the porch as long as I'm outside but when I come inside he races inside too. He even has his sis Bitsy doing it too. Is this a strange form of separation anxiety? I feel that I have to stay out just so they can enjoy being outside too. Has anyone else had this happen? What should I do?

Sounds like you have a velcro baby. He just wants to be near you. When I am at home, Brandi will not let me out of her site. She follows me from room to room. Mostly everyone on here has a velcro baby. No cause for alarm. Yorkies get very attached to their hoomans (as Dexter would say).

Also, it's not a great idea to leave them out there alone, anyway

People have been stealing toy breeds to re-sell, or they could get out and get hit by a car, or even get lost

So maybe this new behavior is a good thing?

That's what I was thinking too. Maybe it's a good thing with the increase in dognappings.
