| What is She? Hi everyone! Someone asked a very good question on Lilos Facebook today and since I didn't have a good answer I thought I would ask you all. it says Lilo is a chocolate Yorkie on her Facebook page, because that's what I used to think she was. But chocolate yorkies generally have a brown nose because of pigmentation. Lilo has a black nose. Lilo's fur has always been a dark brown since she was younger and she's turning all gold right now ( all her roots are really light blond) and her fur is very silky and straight.. If you look at her, there's no doubt she's a yorkie. Lol or at least I think so. I never got to meet the parents but my bf has. He said 1 was traditional and the other was blond for the most part (all tan). She had 1 standard colored sibling and one that looked like her. so I know she's not traditional and I know that I love her to death and think she's the cutest thing in the world. But what is she? Lol any thoughts or ideas? If you haven't seen her pictures, I'm on my iPad and can't upload right ow but you can look here.... Facebook.com/lilokahlua |

| Hi! It is my understanding, as well, that chocolate have brown noses...some chocolate breeds also have pink or pink/chocolate noses, but I don't know if Yorkies get the pink. You say her Dad is blond and she has blond coming in under...and that her 'black' was not 'full' black, but dark brown, so she may never have been able to make black. She may become golden, like her Dad. Mia was born black and tan according to her previous owner, but lost all her black, replaced by golden, silky, straight hair. If you look at the skin on her tummy, you can see the black pigment, but she cannot make black pigment in her hair. If Lilo's hair goes golden, she will be gorgeous, too...just like now! Mia is!

| Her coloring looks a lot like our little Lolo (rip) She was a rescue and had a beautiful golden coat. In the summer she would be almost entirely blond.

| Lilo looks like a standard yorkie to me. AprilLove is a chocolate yorkie (I think, based on her coloring), and she has a black nose: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/att...-3-guilty1.jpg

| Also...my Teddy looked like a standard yorkie puppy, very dark, but he was white-blond on top by the time he was 8 months old: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/alb...ictureid=90785 Now he has a gold head, only slightly lighter than his brother Max's.

| Hmm. maybe this will help... She's definitely brown if you see her in person. I thought she was a chocolate based on her dark brown on tan coloring shes had since she was a pup. but i dont know. everywhere i've read says chocolates dont have black noses. Thanks everyone for the help so far... Its just been one of the things ive been really curious about. I'm so hesistant to cut her hair 1 because we wanted to try a full coat and 2 she would be so blond without her dark brown. i'd miss her looking like a puppy... so perhaps shes a golden like her mom. What is a golden anyway? aren't they already all gold as puppies? Last edited by MaxYorkieBear; 04-15-2012 at 09:29 PM. |

I think golden yorkies are gold as pups. Not 100% sure.

| I don't think she is chocolate. Many Yorkies change color as they get older. She looks very traditional to me. |

| yes she is quite beautiful but if she doesn't have a chocolate nose & paw pads, she is not chocolate yorkie.. |

| we have severa chocolates in our club and all have brown noses, yet some of them do not have brown in their hair. Lilo to me does not look like a chocolate, but she does look like one of the cutest pups I have seen
