| ![]() I posted this in the grooming section but didn't have much luck. ![]() I know that this question has been asked a million times. But.....well what do you think is the best shampoo/conditioner for pups with long silky hair. I have used Chris Christensen, Minksheen, Petsilk, and who knows what else. Right now we are using Yorkie Splash and Shine. I do love the YSS. However, I was reading about IV San Bernard and then someone else mentioned Coat Handler? So before I reorder my YSS, please tell me what you think is best for a long silky coat. Honestly with Rosie I think the conditioner is the secret. I don't know if you all agree or not? Any help is appreciated.

| ![]() I usually use the Yorkie Splash and Shine products and have been pretty happy with them. Many of the shampoos with regular detergents in them are kind of harsh on the silky coat. Gracie went to the groomer yesterday and the groomer used WEN on her. Her fur has a gorgeous sheen on it that I have never seen before. It feels and looks like silk. Now I'm considering getting some for her. It would eliminate having to use an additional conditioner. |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | ![]() Wen I am considering ordering for myself! lol Well long silky coat ... has some differences between the coats, and dependant upon the season; so I have found. First for the most part I do think the conditioner is key; but having said that. I like a moisture rich shampoo for most of the year' only in early fall do I use a more regular type of shampoo. I like IOD no 10. In the Fall I use ISB green apple shampoo. I use the deep conditioning #51 from IOD for almost all the year; as we swim a lot. I also use the nutrient mask for a deep conditioner it stays on for at least 15minutes. Vellus I have used but don't like for my Yorkie; however I love the shampoo for my blackies. Use a really good conditioning spray in between baths. Trim - just snip a bit off the ends of the coat at least once monthly. Good nutriton and hydration and exercise is key to a good coat

I have to say that I have been using the Isle of Dogs shampoo and conditioner. The #10 shampoo and #51 conditioner. Betty Boop has long silky hair and this makes her hair so soft and manageable. I also use Isle of Dogs Silky Coating Brush Spray (Jasmine & Vanilla), and sometimes the Lush Coating Brush Spray (Violet & Sea Mist). I have recently used a sample of the Minksheen and didn't use a conditioner. With other shampoos, I've had to use a conditioner, but I didn't have to with the Minksheen. Of course, using a conditioner would have made it a little easier to brush, but I still didn't have too much of a problem brushing & drying it. I'm trying it out mainly to see if it repels fleas. I do have to say, though, that Minksheen gave her a luscious, shiny coat. I like the smell. It's not offensive at all to me. Right now, I say ![]()

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | ![]() The woman I purchased Jillie from had a long line of champions, and she swore by Coat Handler products, so that's pretty much all I've ever used. However, Jillie's coat is seldom radiant like I've seen in many pups in pictures here. She even returns from the groomer with a much more lustrous coat than when I bathe her. The only time she looks particularly good is when I used the Coat Handler clarifying shampoo followed by the regular shampoo and then the conditioner. But you're only supposed to need the clarifier every few months. So, I dunno. If you have something you like, I'd stick with that.

| ![]() No matter what use, BJ rolls and crawls under the blanket and manages to look like she was never groomed lol. She is only 5 1/2 months old now and her coat has changed in color and texture. Someone told me to have a groomer give her a puppy cut. He hair is getting long and she hates brushing and combing but I continue only to see her roll and crawl again. |

| ![]() The problem I was having with Gracie was that she would start looking kind of stringy after only 3 days after her bath. I was blaming it on the conditioner but I haven't had the problem with the YSS products. I have heard that IOD is a very nice product. How long does the coat stay nice after a bath? I think what I was using before was striping her skin too much so she was just over producing oils. I'm going to wait to see how long she looks good before deciding about the WEN. |

| ![]() This is what I am talking about, I hear about so many products and want to try them..I have the Yorkie Sheen and have Bounce products, I swear the Bounce is a great product, her coat shines and is so silky looking. I have used the Yorkie Sheen twice but I feel like I need to use more to make a decent lather...it does smell nice too but the Bounce has the best scent. I know crazy, you just never know...
