| She's a sweet dog trapped in a very confused body. She wants to trust people, she just doesn't know how yet. You can tell she's been hit and hit hard. She flinches whenever hands come near her head and runs from you whenever you call her. It's sad and I'm angry. I can't think of any good reason to hit a dog. A dog only knows what it's taught. I just want to meet the people that did it and give them a piece of my mind, though my thoughts on this topic are so extended that I'd probably never shut up. I was the southern regional director for westie rescue for 5 years. I never could turn an abused dog away. If it looked like a westie, we took it in. We shut down puppy mills and hoarders all over the southeast. I think I've seen just about everything you can imagine. I quit when I moved to Utah. Time, attention, love and training will get her through this. In the end, she'll be the happy dog she desperately wants to be. She's already discovering that I'm a good person from watching me and Gabby play. Twice now she crawled onto my lap and licked my hand. I think she's sorry for biting me (though I did laugh at her when she did it). The secret is to not react. No animal will continue to repeat an action that doesn't work for them. Thank you all for your encouragement. I meant it when I said I was quitting rescue work. Really I did. I'm not sure what the heck happened here! Doesn't really seem like I quit entirely! |

| Oh that poor little thing. My Mikki was like that when we first got her. She still has a few issues but has come out of her shell. Hopefully this sweet baby will too.

| Well we just figured out that Daisy has never slept on a bed before and doesn't really know what it's all about. She keeps jumping down. She's starting to warm up to me. She's not sure about hubby yet though. She licked his hand a bit ago and then took a snap at him. I think he laughed as hard as I did when she had a go at me LOL |

| Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sounds like Daisy is in the best place to get her out of her shell. I can't wait to read how she is hogging the bed soon.
