| Grooming 101 I am a new yorkie parent and that means ,Wow I have a lot to learn! I am trying to figure out all the hair styles/cuts/looks. There must be hundreds of options. My problem is this. My lil guy has been shaved all except his face ears and top knot. (this is how I brought him home) I am getting tired of putting it up in the tiny rubber band every night. If I don't the stuff just covers his whole face and he looks like a sheep dog at that point. Then again, his hair is getting ripped out by the rubber band.....HELP! He has the cutest babydoll face with his hair up, but is there a tie or barrett that will stay in without hurting him?

| Yes, I use those mini scrunchies for Ruby. They are soft, like towel material. I bought mine at Sally Beauty Supply for .99 a bag. We use them at home. For going out she wears a band and a bow. |

| The little scrunchies are nice for night time because they are looser and just enough to keep the hair out of the eyes. Scrunchie Fun/PonyOs: Top Quality, Handmade Dog Bows - Yorkie, Maltese, Shih Tzu - by BowBiz The latex free grooming bands are much less harsh on the hair then the regular rubber ones are. They come in a variety of sizes but this size usually works well for a puppy or one with finer hair. Amazon.com: Latex Free Dog Grooming Bands by... If you don't want to continue to do the topknot thing many Yorkie owners just get the top hair cut so they don't have to deal with the daily topknot routine. I always take out Gracie's topknot at night time. You never want to leave a grooming band in for more than 10 hours (or less if possible) because it does cause damage to the hair. |
