| ![]() Beauty or Cutie ? This is an interesting question. I would like to have a Yorkie that was the epitome of the AKC standard. That would be beautiful to me. But, I think my Rubin is beautiful too. Rubin is very far from the physical coat requirements of the AKC standard. But he has a wonderful bone structure, a regal and graceful strut, and the proud confident head toss of a champion. (his parents were both show dogs) My little rescue Gracie is adorable and totaly cute. She has a long silky coat if allowed to grow out but, her face is not beautiful, she is cute. Abba boy is tiny, very elfish, and cute as a button. Ginny Joy is very pretty and may grow up to be beautiful. So I guess my answer is; I prefer Yorkies to be beautiful, but a cute Yorkie is also irresistible. OK ALL RIGHT, I admit it ! I love them ugly, old and toothless too ! It is that Yorkie spirit I adore.

| ![]() Well said about the Yorkie spirit! It is the breed's greatest charm, to me. But you don't have a "look" preference? This is just for fun to see what look this community prefers in picking a young dog.

| ![]() I think that as puppies they are all little cuties. As they mature the long coat is beautiful when well kept. Gracie's coat is mostly grown out now after a couple of groomer hatchet jobs. I think she is a cute little beauty. I have a friend that has a male that she keeps in a puppy cut and female that she keeps in full coat. They are an adorable pair. He looks just like his personality.....a little dickens! She looks like a little fashion model but can be just as outgoing in personality as her brother. It is just hysterical to watch them play together out in the yard. |

| ![]() I know a beautiful young AKC ideal Yorkie can look cute too but if you had the pick of a young dog that was more lovely and beautiful than frankly cute(say very baby-faced or elfin-looking with curly, cottony-coated), which do you prefer?

| ![]() That is a really difficult question since I am considering getting another. I would look for a pup that is as close to the breed standard as possible. Personality would sway me quite a bit also. Since this would be a companion pet I think cuteness and personality would probably sway me more than anything else. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() Although I LOVE the way a cotton coat looks, I would never choose it, it's too darn hard to not hurt them at some point. My foster has a mixed coat and I think it's gorgeous, but it kills me when there's a tangle and I hurt him. Joey's coat is all silk and he just practically never tangles. Right now, breeders still have a lot of leeway with the face, and I'm sure we all have individual preferences on what we think is the best, but as a mama, I think of my boys as cuties not beautiful, but I'm sure either one of the would have been a champ in the ring. Lol, what's a elfin looking Yorkie?

| ![]() Cute!!! No offense to those with full-coated show-type Yorkies of course. I mean I do think they are beautiful. Just not my type of dog. I am so glad I ended up with a BYB Yorkie who is not the standard, lol. I know that sounds terrible but most Yorkies that I know are purebred and in standard are not my type. So I definitely ended up with the perfect dog for me. Most likely will have a Silky for my second.
