| What Should They Weigh to be Spayed? We have been discussing getting Kyra spayed soon as she will be 6 months old in May but at this time she is only 1lb 8 ozs. I know with Laddy our vet recommended that we wait for him to reach at least 2lbs. Is it the same with our little girls?

| I'd wait as long as possible as she is still growing. The bigger the dog, the bigger the liver, hence greater ability to handle the anesthesia. I do believe 2 lbs is the minimum for both though.

| Thank you kjc I am really concerned about her going under while she is so small I think we will put it off for a while. Hopefully she will be at least 3 lbs by the time she is a year if she stays on charts.

| most vets i have talked to have suggested at least 3 pounds. Peppermint is a year old and still under 3 so i am waiting to get her spayed for a while. she has a smaller liver too so i would rather wait than risk it. |
