YT Addict | Got my milesey neutered today!!! ;'( He was in a bit of pain when we got home, I think. I am not able to give him any meds until morning as they gave him some just before we left, which I hate; however, I do not want to kill him. Contstant soft whining, broke my heart when he tried to go to the bathroom but couldn't!!! Just sort of slowly, softly fell into a sitting position still whining with the e-collar on as we were getting ready for bed. But he made three doo dees this morning probably in hopes of getting some treats which of course I couldn't give him before surgery. Had surgery done at Bideawee in NYC!! Wonderful place, took good care of him and Mommy by calling just to let me know he came out of surgery OK and that he was a great little patient. He will sleep with Mommy for at least tonight rather than the crate next to my bed. I am terrified that I will never be able to get him back in there when he gets better. Currently lying across my legs as I write this post not whining. Please let me know your thoughts / experience with this. I had cats years ago had them both altered; however, I think the difference is that they stayed with the vet overnight and by the time they were ready to come home they were almost as good as new. Miles spend the day at the vet from 8:30-4:00. Also, he had his little micro chip installed. A very big day for Miles. Last edited by MommytoMiles; 03-12-2012 at 06:38 PM. |

| So sorry. He will be feeling well soon. Copper didn't have to do the collar thing. I tend to think the collar makes it worse. It is hard to see your furbaby suffer.

| Geez. What kind of pain meds did they give that last 12 hours? Sounds like he's hurting and needs some medication. I agree that collar is a big part of the problem and shouldn't be needed for most Yorkies. I would put in a call to that doc about my baby obviously in distress.

| Aw poor baby, Sounds like my Peanut after his neuter. Hopefully he is feeling a little better today! I babied Peanut for a couple days after with boiled chicken and pedialyte.

| The doc probably thought he would be sleeping after he got home and therefore need no more medication is probably the reason they told you to wait so long but honestly, Glad he is doing better. Believe it or not, in a day or two you won't even know he had any kind of surgery as most dogs are so stoic and rarely show pain unless something like sedation is uninhibiting them. As soon as the anesthetic wears completely off and they've had a good day or two of mostly sleeping and coddling, they act like they are fit as fiddles. I'll bet you are so glad that you've made it through the surgery and that first post-op night with him. The worst is now all over.

| I am so sorry to hear he had such pain. Poor baby! I hope he's better today. You mentioned that you thought your cats' neuters went better 'cuz they stayed overnight. My cats all were at the vet's from 8-8:30 until 4:30-5 or so with surgery at noontime and they were all different...had 3 littermates done the same day with varying degrees of grogginess and from showing a bit of discomfort to acting perfectly normal...and a 4th...a feral, who jumped out of a near-second-story jalousie window during the night after his neuter. To me, they seem to react in their own way...and I am really hoping your baby is feeling completely normal in no time!

YT Addict | Pedialyte?? Did the vet tell you to give to him? Interesting. I am giving Miles his normal food. A bit more soft puppy wellness food which he loves to make sure he eats along with his taste of the wild pacific stream dry puppy food that he was raised on before I got him. |
