| Hello Everyone! I have just become the owner of a Yorkie puppy. Her name is Chloe. I will get to bring her home in a week after her 8th week birthday. I'm really excited as I've not had a pet in several years. This is the first Yorkie I've owned. I've had a Pomeranian and a Chihuahua previously. I've ordered her kennel and other supplies so I'm ready and can't wait. I was very happy to see this forum and I'm sure I'll be able to get lots of information here. |

| A puppy should be with its mother until 12 weeks old.

| I would recommend that you don't bring her home that early... She should be with her mom until she is 12 weeks to get the socialization and skills that she needs to be a happy, healthy dog. Good luck.

| Welcome to YT. Am so glad you joined us. You will find a world of information here, not to mention all the crafty people who make sell wonderful Yorkies items too, so start saving. It's so exciting when getting a new family member, and I'm sure you want your baby to be healthy and very well adjusted and learn all the important things from the mom that will be very necessary in growing into a well rounded adult. Without moms teachings, this will not happen and the critical age to learn from mom is 6 to 12 weeks old. Those are very, very important weeks for the new baby. Ask the breeder if Chloe can stay with her mom till she's at least 12 weeks, and if she's really tiny then consider not taking her till she's 16 weeks. I didn't take any of my girls till they were 14, & 16 weeks and one was 5 months. My last one was just 12 weeks when I got her, but she's doing really good so far. Hope you post pictures of your new daughter when you do bring her home.

| Welcome to YT and please take the advice of the fellow YT's. See if the Breeder will keep her until 12 weeks of age. It will be best for her and you.

| Thank you for your advice. Thank you all for your advice. That's why I'm here. I will talk to the breeder tomorrow. Chloe is very small and still sleeps much of the time. |
