DO you take your furbaby everywhere

Bailey, my Havanese is a hearing service dog and I will begin training with Dayzee to do so as well. Bailey is also in training to be a therapy as will Dayzee when she is older.

Hmmm---where have I taken Edie. Edie has gone many places where she is not supposed to go, but I take her in her bag and no one notices. We call it going INDOGNITO....

Edie has been in: restaurants, casinos, a hospital, the mall, Home Depot, the HOOVER DAM (I have a pic of her next to the 'no pets' sign), on a tour bus (no pets allowed), on a train (no pets allowed), and there's more. I think the only place I have NOT taken her is a grocery store.

I am in San Diego. Did you train your service dog yourself or did you use a trainer?

NYC, while dog-friendlly is very cautious these days. Especially in highly populated places. If you take public transportation, you are open to have your bags searched or be refused...

Europe is more friendly regarding the dogs. You can take your dog even to shows, restaurants, etc. Even without a dog carrier

I take Gus everywhere with me. We have never been asked to leave anywhere but told to not bring him next time. I stay away those places. All the stores I go to like the market, Welmart, Target, the mall,,,, they all know Gus. I have even taken him to church. He even gets blessed.

Now the for the bad part of taking him everywhere is when I do have to leave him, he gets so depressed. To the point where he gets sick. I had emergancy surgery last month and was in the hospital for 3 days. And a few weeks later just after getting over the shock from me leaving him the first time I had to leave him again when I took my niece to go see her mother. Even though there was someone here he still got depressed. I am trying to leave him behind little by little. If I know I am just going to be an hour or so I will leave him. But it's so hard. He hears the key and runs to go get in his bag. He makes me feel so guilty! Yesterday we went out to eat and the look on his face just about made me cry.

I was concerned about this too, I knew that I couldn't be with them ALL the time. Like doctor visits and grocery shopping, or even at night. (she's not sleeping with me until she's potty trained, she's peed in my bed twice.) Maybe you should get a friend for Gus to keep him company? Brandy WILL NOT stay in her xpen unless Bailey is there, she also cries without him. It's just a suggestion that might help poor Gus. I think him getting into the bag would be so cute.

Yes we are working on it. I want my female red yorkie so badly and havent had any luck finding her. But my husbands cousins chi is pregnant and due any day now. We have dipps on a female. We are keeping our fingers crossed. I hope it will help Gus with is seperation issues.

Yes, Sherry-Lynn is right...NYC is doing lots of searches on the subways right now. My friend's husband was searched recently. I had been "sneaking" Chewy on the bus and subway for months and only found out recently that all that time I was legally allowed to have him there with me. As long as they are enclosed you can bring 'em on!

LOL thats too cute ...taking him to church and getting blessed even!

i wish i could take Crunchy to more places, when i first got him and he was much smaller he accompanied us to Wal-mart, IKEA, i think even a Dairy Queen once ...but now he's just getting too big, i did however have to squeeze him into his carrier for a quick trip to Target recently. i felt bad because he barely fit
i really do have to get a bigger bag ....hmm *adds to Christmas list*

I want Rusty to be a service dog, he's already trained.

Tucker is a "service dog in training" but baisically he picks things up for my mom (she has some kind of nerve problem and can't bend down a lot and all that stuff.)
