				   | Annabelle has gotten into this barking stage I have tryed everything I can think of to have her stop ( I will NOT use a bark collar or scream at her ) So one night I was getting so mad she would not stop so i screamed but not at her but into a paper cup It muffled my scream and she just looked at me like I was nuts but she stopped barking So now when she barks for no reason I scream in a paper cup and she stops every time ( not just a few min. but a couple hours ) I did this for a few days now I just pick up the cup and she wil stop barking right away You never know this might work with others here who have barkers good luck |

				   | I believe everyone has to find a way that gets through to their dog so if this way works for you I dont see anything wrong with it as long as she doesnt become fearful of you

				   | I have a barker now... he only barks at other dogs... make sure once she stops you reward the quiet and it'll work a lot faster too. I wish I could take a paper cup with me everytime we go walking... lol but I think i'd look a little crazy, more so than the "crazy dog lady" I already am

. I really believe that each of us finds their own special trick ![]() For us it was the 'is my favourite toy in it's death throes' trick ![]() Harry's best toy in the world is his Kong squeaky tennis ball. So I hide one in my desk drawer. If he goes into one of his barking flurries (there's a particular neighbour he hates, I'm not too keen either ) all I have to do is one long, slow s-q-u-e-e-k with it...and he comes running woo hoo! If it ever fails - I shall certainly try your trick, thank you! Sally + Harry x | |

				   | Good thats what you want to do is get her attention in a way that gets her to stop the barking but doesnt make her fearful or nervous

				   | Brody was not a barker, but Mia trained him different , so now the both of them will bark, chortle and huff when a kitty asks to go in or out, jumps off anything or knocks a paper to the floor making a whoosing sound...or, apparently anything else. I mean, they barked when they saw the "monsters" (garbage cans Daddy put) by the road...at night, then barked again the next night because the "monsters" were gone...apparently loose on the property somewhere. ![]() Mia is the usual instigator, but then Brody gets all up in it and takes over the 'protection' barking fiasco. I tried a couple things, then decided, since it seems to be a lot of varied training all at once on my previously untrained,d re-homed babies, to simplify things so now when they start barking, I just insist they "Sit"...an it is working pretty well with added benefits. Still, it's hillarious to me when I think about it, how, when awakened at 2 or 3 am by barking started by a kitty crunching kibble in the kitchen that, out of a sound sleep, I immediately holler "sit" even though I'm still half-asleep. Apparently I am pretty trainable...

				   | When Joel barks I say "Oh you have to go potty?" And then I take him out, lol sometimes I even have to take him out 5 times in a row but he gets annoyed and will stop, and now I just say "Potty?" And he'll stop unless he realy needs to go. |

Brody was the inseparable kitty cousin, and Mia retreated from them,e but he's turned enforcer, where now Mia is the one who must b made to "leave it" or she' wash the color out of 'mokey's (Smokey's) long black fur. I think I helped start the 'enforcer' thing by hollering at a cat to NOT claw the backing on a rug rolled up to take out and wash. My bad...who knew! ![]() I don't care if they bark for certain reasons, but just because the air moves jus' ain't it! We're gettin' there!
