you're right but it's always a bad idea not to do your hw on things when itcomes to your pup.. lesson learned the spec are needed..

Yes, it is harmless but my dog(not my yorkie) seemed to get used
to the beep after awhile and paid no attention to it...

So the short answer seems to be no, this product doesn't work. Ok, back to the drawing board. And for the record, I've tried the water bottle, rearranging furniture, pennies in a jar, removal from the room, closing the blinds, rewards for "no bark", etc. Nothing works. And it doesn't matter how many walks he has a day or how tired he is - it does not correlate to his barking. :confused:

I use a spray bottle with water. Only had to actually use it once. Now when I pull the bottle out.....silence. :p

MOST of the time, what works for me is to turn my back whenever they bark. It might take a few seconds, but when they figure out that they get ignored they stop barking.
I have seen a collar at petsmart that has a bottle of supposedly harmless spray attached. Does anyone know about this? I'm going to look at it when I get food next. Good luck!

I'm glad you decided against the shock collar. I have posted on some threads where I calculated the estimated "shock" in these collars on a small yorkie. I would not use one of these on a small dog like a yorkie (actually not a large dog either, but that's me). If you do a search, I'm sure you could find the info posted on these collars.

Some on here have said they have had good results from either the citronella collars and/or from the ultrasonic collars. I have not tried these personally, but I think they would be a better option.

My parents had scotties for years and used the same method. They had the same great results from just a water squirt bottle. After one or two squirts, all they had to do was bring out the bottle from then on.

I tried it on Harry - after about the third time, he would sit there with his mouth open waiting for his lovely lazy drink without having to 'lap'!! :rolleyes: :D Sally + Harry x

Back to what the OP asked about. I have tried that anti-bark device. It worked the first time but after that she just ignored it. It worked for one of my daughter's Bichons but not the other. There is a problem with multiple dogs as all are punished if one misbehaves, maybe peer pressure might be effective.:rolleyes:

First of all give NewYorkBrandy a break....she is not going to do anything that is harmful to her Brandy. In reference to controlling barking every dog is different. With Bella I have tried everything...pennies in a can...made her bark more....spray bottle...licked it up and thought it was a game...citronella bark collar...at first she would just growl not bark but when something really got to her she would empty the can. At $7.00 a can for the spray and $100.00 for the collar...waste of money...not including going through batteries every 3 to 4 days. I tried rewarding for not barking...punishing for barking nothing works. I have just realized she is a barking dog....I spoke to my vet and she told me what Bella is barking at...people coming to the door or other dogs in the yard is normal dog behavior. What she told me to do is to distract her from whatever it is that is causing her to bark. It is still a work in progress with me.

I agree. If it's a little bottle like on this site I doubt it will get in the pup's eyes. Grace Saved: Homemade Bug Spray. And if it does by accident, yes, it will burn. But how many of you have sprayed dog cologne, detangler, used hairspray around your dog, or gotten shampoo in their eyes by accident? Or yours? It hurts for a second then it stops. It won't kill them. Plus, she's not purposely spraying his eyes to burn them. JMHO

I have a whistle on my coffee table and if mine get to the crazy barking I blow the whistle and they stop. I have used pennies in a can too I just didnt want to leave a can laying around in my living area so I got a whistle

I never spray any of that stuff on Callie and I use a tear less face wash shampoo on her head. There was on person who posted on here about shampoo getting in the dogs eye and the next morning the poor thing couldn't open his eye. Anything that can get in the eyes is dangerous and I don't play with eyes they don't grow back and aren't always easily fixed if something goes wrong with them. Have you even gotten lemon juice in you eye? It hurts its not just a little sting and in order to stop it most of the time you have to rinse your eye and a dog cant do that or say hey this is crazy burning so you have no idea how bad it hurts them just that is does. I never said she was purposely spraying it in the eyes but you cant control the dog to not move so that you know there not going to jerk and get sprayed right in the eye.

I got a whistle, too! :thumbup: And if that doesn't work - I squeeze Harry's favourite tennis ball with the squeaker inside very hard (just once) but out of his sight.....he always comes running to see who's 'killed' his favourite toy....:D Sally + Harry x

I actually like the whistle at the table idea.. and the turning the back idea...I tried the whistle idea for a while it did work but after three days.. it failed.. I'm with Snowbird it is normal for a dog or even a pup to bark even if it is a lot. I love Brandy barking but my neighbors called the super on us and they gave us a warning the only reason I went the way i did was because I didn't want to lost my baby. Did i it hurt her no could it have yes.. Their is no right or wrong answer for this question. Dogs bark because of things and changes around them just to let you know their aware of their surroundings.. I really don't care if anyone doesn't like my answer but the lesson here is barking is their voice you just have to keep at it if you want it to change. I learned that yorkies could be suborn when it comes to training. Ask your vet like I did and other moms out their.. you could also go to a trainer and see if that helps.. the key is to do your best..
