| ![]() It's been a while since I last came here. I have some good news. I used a muzzle on them for a couple of days (only a few minutes each time) when I had them in the same room, under my supervision, to see how they behaved. At first Nina tried to start a fight but since she couldn't bite Mia, she just pushed her with her body and went away. The second time I brought them together I put the muzzles on and let them run loose in the living room and, to my amazement, they didn't fight. They just smelled each others rear (yuck lol) and kept an eye on one another for a minute, relaxed and went to ignore each other. When I felt the energy go "down" I took the muzzles off and they didn't fight, they just kept a distance from each other. I think they got the idea that if they are going to be aggressive, they will have to wear the ugly muzzle. So far so good, no more fights other than the "stares" Nina gives Mia when she comes for love but I hush her and she goes away. I have been playing much more with Nina and giving her treats and she is behaving much better. I guess she was feeling I had forgotten of her and chosen Mia over her but now things are almost back to normal. I don't yet leave them together when I have to be out. I only put them in the same room if I am there to stop any undesired behavior. I'm waiting to see them start playing again and then judge if they can be alone again.

| ![]() This is only the first day with my new female Yorkie puppy. I have 2 other Yorkies both are females. The puppy I got came from the same mom as one of my other Yorkie. This puppy is the runt of the litter and I was kind of talked into taking her since she is so small and she didn't want anyone that had kids to have her. I never would have thought my sweet Macy would act like she has when she first seen the puppy she just started shaking and would not look at the puppy. Then she started getting in any corner she could, like the couch and hides her face she just doesn't want to look at the puppy. Also I can tell she treats me different she usually licks me now she will smell me and if she smells the puppy she just turns her head. I have let her smell the puppy I thought she was scared of her that didn't work. I don't know what to do to make this easier for Macy I almost want to give the puppy back . Macy is such a laid back wonderful dog and for her to act this way is strange. The puppy was here last night but today was the first full day together. How long do you think this will last? And do I give Macy extra attention are will that just prolong her getting over . this? I just need any help I can get I'm kind of new here I do read alot just havent posted much |

Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() I have 2 yorkies, a mix and all 3 are males. My 11 yo yorkie is very passive and he just wants to be left alone. My 5yo mix is so sweet and just lets the baby, now 4 months old have his way. It takes a lot of patience and they are now sitting on the couch with me without fighting. |

| ![]() Some times it can be the smell of the new puppy. She comes from a different home and was surrounded by different people/animals and at least with my dogs sometimes it happens that if the other dog smells "funny" they avoid him. When Mia was sick and came back from the hospital, Nina and Bambi didn't like her being near. They would smell her or my hands and go away. It took me a couple of weeks and baths to get their noses to accept her again. ![]()

| ![]() I am still having problems with the new baby I brought home and my other female Yorkie. I also have a yorki-poo who is not causing any problems. They are all females. Macy is the trouble maker she was very attached to me but I am letting others take care of the puppy but during the day I have to. My friend wanted me to have this female because she is the runt of the litter and very small and she knew that I would take care of her. I feel like I am failing at this because I can't make Macy like her. Macy has really surprised me she has always been such a sweet dog I thought she would take on the mommy role. I have to watch them together evey second because Macy has attacked her and it wasn't good. Macy is acting totally different she started hiding all her toys and dares either dog to go near where she hides them I don't even know where she puts them. I miss being able to bond with the puppy. I just don't know what to do. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks ![]() |

| ![]() I am new to yorkies but have a history with Rottweilers. When your girls get into it - Do you notice that you are close by? The reason I ask this is my most recnt foster Rottweiler came to me spayed. She had been in other fights before with females and she decided for some reason she didn't like my female Rottweiler from the beginning. My female Rottweiler is a very friendily dog, especially with other dogs. This was the first dog that didn't like her. I think other females caused my foster to not like female dogs. My foster loved my Male Rottweiler. I never got the girls to be great friends but I did have a behaviorist come over to help me with them and I realized alot of the growling, tiffs, etc. were happening when I was present. When the trained told me to walk away, it ended. Rather than worrying about each other they worried about where I was going. That may not work with every situation but it did help with our girls. I also agree with pack order. Always greet, feed, give attention to the alpha female first. I now have a little yorkie mix female that is intact along with my female Rottweiler that is also intact. Their personalities seem to go together perfectly. They both act like two puppies and really are the best of friends.

With that said I think it also depends on your dogs. My male Rottweiler is very much a Alpha Male. He doesn't like other males here at the house and therefore I would never bring another male here of any breed while Bear is alive. My Female Rottweiler is not a alpha female. She has done great with alot of other females. Usually if she isn't getting along with a another female it is because the other female decided she didn't like Adria.
