| 2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | We take naming our pets very seriously as we did when it came to naming our children. We picked both first and middle names something that flows off of the tongue and something that the kids also had some part in. And with our fourth Yorkie it was not easy. We ended up putting names into a hat and picking because noone could come to an agreement. I wanted Sasha or Meeka but ended up with Ruby. We have: Quincy Alexander Lil' Puppy Maih Michele Brandi "B" Precious Beauty Ruby Bella' Years ago we had a Red Chow Chow that we names: Chin Toi Hoy Yin / which means (Golden Blaze)

| Of the two I have now, I adopted them from a Rescue Group and they came with those names. Well Allie's name was Alex, she was an owner turn in to the Rescue Group and that was her name. So I kinda modified her name and call her Allie. I thought Alex sounded like a boy.

| After Shakespeare arrives, we're done getting new furmembers to our family for a very long time. However, if in the future we ever get another little girlpup...her name will be Marmalade. That's what I almost named Bella, but she seemed more of a Bella than a Marmalade. :] |

| Marvin the Mutt, was named by the Humane Society and we liked it so much we kept it. Max was an owner turn in to the rescue and I didn't want to confuse him... We always said if we got a third dog we would finally name a dog...instead... Titus was another owner turn in and we didn't want to confuse him either. But ultimatly I always call them in order, Marving the moron, Maxily waxily wiggle butt, and tights |

| Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Katie Scarlett was actually called 'Mini' from her breeder, but I knew we would change that. I knew before I found her what her name would be. LOL. My favorite movie is Gone With the Wind. Our master bedroom is decorated in GWTW stuff and I am a total southern belle myself. So I wanted a little southern belle sidekick. At first I was going to just call her Scarlett, but then I decided to call her Katie Scarlett like the real Scarlett O'hara's dad called her in the movie. It fit her from the moment we saw her!

| Cozy is short for Cosette from Les Miseribles plus she loved to cozy up to her loved ones. It also means "little warrior woman". Roxy was originally named Candy become Rock Candy because she is a rough and tumble girl. I shortened it to Roxy which means "Dawn"- She is always bright and full of herself. Zoey was Cozy's original name from the breeders. It means "Life and peace". She is very Zen. Lucy after I love Lucy- When she was a little puppy she would get very vocal when ever you found her doing something wrong and they she would start to whine as though she was doing a lot of explaining. It means "light" I was going to keep her brother who had a cleft plate but he passes away from complicates. She was our light from darkness. Buddy is a rescue. While driving home from rescuing him I passed an Air Buddy sign that said "Adopt a Buddy Today". It also means "Comrade" or "loyal companion". He is my shadow dog. He wants to be with you 24/7. Mika is Native American and means "Wise little raccoon" and "Beautiful" She would put kibble in her water bowl and then fish it out like a raccoon when I show her at the breeders. Tallulah is a rescue. Her name is also Native American and means "Leaping Water" and "Princess". She loved to investigate the dripping facet and would then jump in the air cooing away. She has a very bubbly personality.

| I absolutely LOVE these naming tales (tails)... My Marley was already named, and I too did not want to confuse him. My Max (Mad Maxx) was named Hans which was too hard to get out for everyday calling. Because of the 'man bands' Max has to wear when he's allowed into carpeted areas, he has earned the name 'Maxie Pad' which I don't like at all. But they don't care what I call them, as long as I call them for dinner! |

| I'm a total name freak. Like I am pretty certain I already have my future dogs name picked out. lol. With Jackson, I remember staring at his puppy picture a week before I met him and trying to come up with something. Me and my mom watched Walk The Line (Johnny Cash movie) one night and always had the 'Jackson' song stuck in our head. My mom suggested it; well, it stuck! I also am a Michael Jackson fan. It totally fits him and I cannot even imagine calling him anything else. Though I'm a little miffed it's becoming so popular. Have not met many dogs named it (I think only 2) but little kids! It's crawling up the popular baby name list fast! lol. I thought I was being all unique. Oh well.

| Well, Dinky is a pretty obvious name for a small dog. The truth is we talked about what to name a dog for months before we got him. We had a list of girl names...I liked Sasha, Emmy, so many. Then when we went to see Dinky's sister, we ended up leaving with him instead. My husband is the one who started calling him Dinky. When I thought about it, I realized that his family had named all their dogs with names that ended with the "Kee" sound: Ricky, Jacquie etc. So I figured Dinky went with that tradition, and I went along with it. It's kind of a silly name, but it suits him, not just because he's small, but he has this silly sweet adorable smile, so a silly adorable name suits him. |

| Well, I don't have a dog just yet (3 more weeks!), but I do have a name waiting for him. I like the idea of a tiny dog with a name longer than he is, with a cute nickname for everyday use. So I picked a title to start it with, and I'm keeping his current name as a last name. 'Commodore Remington Alexander Pinkernose I' is what I wound up deciding on, with 'Remy' being what I'll actually call him. |

| YorkieTalk Newbie! | This is awesome to read how everyones furbaby, came to be. I came up with Teaka's name because she was soooo tiny when I got her, she fit in a tea cup.

It's so funny you say that, I have a friend about to have a baby - any day now - and she's naming him Jaxson and her cousin also named her son Jackson. I thought it was just a weird one off story and now you say this. Lol. But I don't know of any dogs named Jackson. Your Jackson is the bomb dot com! I love when people name their fur kids people names. It's just so darned cute, just like this thread! I so wanted to name my baby some posh or cool people name but he was just so darned Strudel-y
