| He looks silky to me. My Elvis is a cottony coat, except for his face. Elvis has a very straight silky hair all around his face over the top of his head it gets cottony feeling and then all over his body and especially on his white undercoat and legs it is very cottony to the touch and at the first sign of humidity (weather we just brow dried and brushed or not) he's curling! Best way to deal with a cottony coat is to keep it short, dry and fluffed as much as possible. Switching to WEN was magical for his hair! Oh good someone already noted eye shine color too!

| My understanding is that coat type is genetically linked to 'eye glow' color and that a pup's eyes with a 'correct' silky coat glow blue to green to greenish gold where an 'incorrect' (cotton) coat type Yorkie has eyes that glow red. Also, a cotton coat has no shine and does not reflect light/is not shiny where a silky coat reflects light and shines/glows like polished metal. The 'modified' coats I've seen referenced lately have not been mentioned in any of the info I've read, and I have not seen info on 'modified' coats with respect to eye glow color or sheen. It could be that shades of other than red eye glow color relate to states of texture modification in coat...but I am a genetics enthusiast...not an expert. I'd be interested in knowing more on the subject. ![]() Brody's eyes glow blue to aqua and his coat is fine, silky, and shiny. Mia's eyes glow green to gold (very much like the YT logo "Yoda") and she has silky, shiny hair that is fine but a slightly thicker fine texture and is not quite as 'slippery' as Brody's, but it is thicker in volume and grows faster, too. Both Brody and Mia look a little 'cottony' immediately after a bath/blow dry, but the shine comes back soon after. They are both silky but have a slight difference in texture. Pnut' s eyes in this photo glow blue to green and his hair reflects light with a sheen. That sounds more like a silky coat based on what I've come to understand. That his eyes do not glow red also sounds like he does not have a cottony coat. Pnut is a cutie pie and he sure looks soft and silky to me.

Thank you for the info!! This is what I heard as well. His eyes shine is never red, sometimes its a yellow, but never red. His hair is really soft and silky, and it shins like crazy!! Thank you for the sweet comment about my baby- your little ones in your avatar are little cuties!

| His coat looks silky to me - but I am definitely no expert. Peanut is such a cutie. Levi is silver, too! I think Levi's coloring is a little lighter than Peanut's. Levi's facial hair is reddish, and his body is very light gray/silver. Definitely not tan/blue - but he looks perfect to me!
