Not an expert but your plan sounds PERFECT to me. This is coming from the person who has the hardest to potty train Yorkie ever(took almost 2 years). I would aslo start working on the "Go Potty" command if its not to late, when you take her out and you see she is starting to look say "Go Potty" and when she does continue with your small celebration. That command helps so much, I use it when we are away from home and about to go in somewhere, we "Go Potty" before entering. Also you might want to think about a schedule, Sophie Kate still does not tell me when she has to go so I keep a strict schedule with her and that helps a great deal. Good luck, I think Pebbles got lucky when you took her in. |
No expert on rescues here, but I've always somehow done a great job potty training. Your plan sounds great and I think she is both young enough and eager enough to want to please her people. I think she'll get over cowering when she learns that she won't be struck. They are very resilient and will do whatever it takes to please us humans. |

I tell you, I know baby, I know you do not understand me, but you will. I going to see to it that new Mommy uses this same term. Yeah her schedule is going to be interesting, because she ate the first solid food yesterday morning and did not solid potty until this morning, 24 hours later. But I still attribute that to the nerves and changes. But to her credit she DID NOT go in the crate. I think once she and her mother start going to the office she can get a good schedule worked out around her breaks and lunch etc. |
1 Attachment(s) Well Family....Pebbles just left here with her new Mommy to go back to the office with Mom. She will spend all of her days at work with Mommy getting love and meeting people, and then go home to a loving home. I gave her a bath, cut all of that hair off her ears, got the poop off her butt and trimmed the hair back there, made her some semblance of a top knot, found her a cute outfit, and sent her off to her new life. It was HARD. She whinned for me a little, but she gave new Mommy kisses too. This baby never gave me any trouble with her bath or blow dry, never used it in the house, never messed her crate, never cried or complained. I am at a loss to see what was so "wrong" with her that someone would give her up. Well we have talked to her new vet. Her Mom has bought things for her, and she is off to a new life. So looks like Operation Pebble is over for now. Thanks for going along with me. |
Good job! I know it had to be hard sending her to a new home, but she'll be happy there and well-cared for, too. That was a wonderful thing you did, plus you made someone else very happy.:) |

1 Attachment(s) ONe last one,, Pebbles new Mommy sent me a picture of her supervising the door at the new job. This is where she will spend her days at the office with new Mom. |
I'm so glad that she will get the love and care that she needs!! |
Me too teacup. I think this is going to be great. This is a great feeling. I have one more case I am working on. I will keep you guys posted. |
What a sweet little dog. I hope she and her new mommy have a wonderful life together. She seems to be the type that will enjoy going to work everyday. If only more people realized that they can take in that homeless or abused dog if only for a while until new a new home can be found. One creature at a time. |
Well I found out what happened to my other case. This lady bought the cutest yorkie and then decided she did not want it. THe yorkie has spent the past couple of months in a crate most of the time. I tried to post it on Yorkie talk, but because this lady wouldn't let her go without a fee, they did not publish the post. I just found out that she sold the dog to some little girl at her church. If these people take better care of her, then I say it is a good thing , but i have no way of knowing. At any rate, that one is out of my hands now. |
I am just now seeing your post and am so happy for little Pebbles. She looks right at home in the office and love her new pink jacket! Her new mommy looks very happy and they look so cute together! Thank you for helping this little girl discover what a loving is all about! |
I'm so anxious to see their relationship grow. I think she is going to be a spoiled little diva now , and she so deserves it. |
So happy this little girl has a loving new home. Someone else had mentioned about the Go potty command, I just want to say that when you use this command it is best to use this command as soon as you see the dog in the actual act of going potty. All of mine came to me not potty trained & within 3 to 5 days they had it down with me using the Go potty command. |
What a happy ending for Pebbles! |
