She looks like my Trixie. She is bigger ...not the "typical" yorkie you would see. My other 3 are small but I just love my Trix. She's just a big mushburger :p. I could never, ever put her out beause of the "way she turned out". Keep us posted, I am so praying this baby gets the life she deserves. |
One of the teenage kids said "See THAT is the kind I wanted, one that would stay little like that." That kinda spoke volumes about what happened to Pebbles. She didn't stay tiny or turn out maybe as "cute" as they anticipated, thus the loss of interest. This may be unkind to say but it sounds like the kid had a case of bratitis. Wait until they are a parent of a skin kid. WOW I am so glad that the lil baby is out of that situation. Can you imagine living in a house where you KNEW that noone treasured you? or valued you? |
Prospective Mom is coming tomorrow now, she wanted time to go shopping to get things needed. |

Melimar I enjoyed your story as well. You are a TRUE rescuer. |
Isn't it amazing how God puts us where we need to be, when we need to be there ;) I'm so glad to hear you know prospective mom so well and might be able to keep in touch with her and Pebbles. |
This kind of stuff just breaks my heart :-( They get a puppy and lose interest, the puppy knows nothing else but what they've taught them (or not) and knows no one but the people they've been with, then they finally decide they no longer want the dog and the poor dogs whole life is turned upside down :-( I often wonder if these furbabies sit and think about their old families or miss them or wonder what they did so wrong to be sent away. I sure hope she finds everything in life she ever wanted or needed in this ladies home who's coming to meet her, most of, I hope she finds real love, a forever love, a forever home, where she can put down new roots and never be tossed aside or out again. |
Can't wait to hear if the new mom loved pebbles!! Keep us posted!! |

I have never met that teenage girl or her parents (probably don't want to) so I won't say anything about them (because I have nothing nice to say)... but reading this post just made me want to...uggghhhhh...I am so frustrated I can't breathe. |
Well here is some good news. The reason that clicked when talking to new Mom about adopting Pebbles is that she has the kind of job that she can take Pebbles to work with her everyday. I always dreamed of that, having a job where my girls could go to work with me everyday and charm people. This is the BEST thing in the world for Pebbles right now. She will never be home alone for long periods and Mommy can take her out at regular intervals, and by George, she just might "get it." I am really thinking that God has put all of this in place to happen. I started not to put this out on my FB page because the person who made the original call that saved Pebbles is on my page, but I by no means went into a lot of detail on there as I have here, so not as to offend him. I just posted her picture and the fact that she needed a new home, and new Mommy responded right away. Had I not posted that, they would never have connected. SO it may be today or tomorrow when we get this thing going but I will keep you posted. Ok I am on my way to the kitchen to get the crew. I am also keeping a co workers doggie for her as she traveled this weekend., so I have a house full right now. Pebbles has NOT used it in her crate or in the house since she has been here. SHe is now eating dry food. She loves to run in circles and she dances on her hind legs. She is really a sweet girl. |

Well the big news is we did the "big one" outside this morning, and when I wanted her to come to me for her praise and big treat she cowered. I know this is because the big one has been a no no in the past home, but I made a big deal out of it and she got her treat. SO my strategy would be with a 3 year old like this: Continue patient and long waits outside. Reward when #1 and #2 and done outside. If it happens inside, clean it up without comment, and continue until she catches on that outside is good inside gets nothing??? Also the nect big thing would be to find out what her style of alerting me that she needs to go will be once she catches on???? OK experts how does that sound to you because I need to advise Mom when she gets here. Oh and also we are going to crate when not actively being watched or engaged, and straight to the potty when crated each time. How does that sound??? |
The news is, she is not a puppy and she holds it for a very long time. Despite being uprooted, being crated for the first time, and in an unfamiliar home and around other dogs for the first time, she has not ONE TIME soiled her bed clothes. SHe is really quite too amazing because I watch her like a hawk and it is almost like she doesn\'t have to go or has some superhuman strength or something. Maybe that is all part of her transition. |
