| Why does Gizmo put his ears down???? Gizmo ears stand straight up unless you talk to him. Then he puts his ears down and seems to go into submissive mode even if you are praising him or telling him you love him.. We have never hit him and only use voice commands to correct him. We do not yell at him. My DH was using a broom the other day and when Gizmo saw it he went into the corner and cowed down. I am guess he was hit with a broom a lot. We have only had him a month but do you think he will keep his ears once he finds out we are not mad at him all the time,

| I would not assume abuse just because your pup is fearful or unsure of something. My Teddy is not submissive, but he often puts his ears down like he is embarrassed by the attention when I call his name. Other times, hearing his name is like a hug to him and he puts his ears down. It's his cuddle mode. For fear, I pay more attention to the tail. If the pups tuck their tail, then they are really fearful or upset.
