I have both cats and dogs, and have had both for a very long time. My opinion of the differences is that
cats are "interested..." but
dogs are "ready..." and it doesn't matter what the "for" part of those statements is, so I'd politely and gently point out that some kitties are more like puppy dogs and/or people at heart. I've had several cats like that...ones who even respond to "sit" and "heel" and walk right beside you on the left like a dog.
My last one was a tiny (the black kitty next to her in one of the photos is a small kitty) very soft and silky long-haired dilute calico (cream, blue and white...is there a pattern?

) who ruled the others with dignity and grace, but you knew who was in charge because she'd walk peg-legged across the floor and bonk with her fist any of the others...all much larger than her...who started trouble or deserved it!
She was a gorgeous lady who experienced everything indoors, but never climbed a single tree because she was so dainty and human-like. She'd let you do pretty much anything to her...as long as you explained it to her first...and would
select which flavor of food she wanted, refusing to eat it if you gave her something different. Her long fur matted terribly at shedding time, but she'd let me clip even with scissors and would lay on her back while I cut...after she inspected the scissors or the clippers! I took her to a groomer the first and second times...until I learned how to clip, and she was perfect through it all, standing on her hind legs with the groomer's hand under her chest while the excellent lady groomer buzzed her armpits and chest.
She liked traveling, and was well-behaved in a car, and loved to be carried around in the pet store, where she attracted a lot of favorable attention...which she adored! She was a chest kitty...I used to change clothes without her getting down off me...she'd just move around over my shoulders and back and would ride on my shoulder anywhere. If I bent over, she'd climb on my back. She always had to be higher on me than all the others...she slept on my neck, face head or chest.
I got her in 1999 and lost her in 2008, but she will be forever with me, and in fact, I am reminded of her often while on YT because a couple of members have named their Yorkies the same thing...although they spell it differently. I have attached a few of the hundreds of photos I have of her...she loved to pose for the camera...so you can see. I miss her terribly.
